So very few bands had a magical sound such as Kansas did. Man, what a monumental band.

This is the best line-up Kansas ever had... with the two guitars, John Elefante on the lead vocals, and Kerry Livgreen on lead guitar...and Robbie on Violin... What a Super group it was!!!!

Elefante is an excellent vocalist. I still put Walsh way above him, but he was a good replacement for Walsh. I was fortunate to see both of them sing for Kansas.

How many rock songs are there where the singing doesn't start until 3 minutes into it? Brilliant and pretty ballsy.

Dude sounds a lot like Stave Walsh - but can he do a handstand on the keyboard? And Phil Ehart is America's answer to Bill Bruford. (Although Bruford is my favorite...). Awesome video - thanks!

I saw Kansas in 1978 at The Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, NY. It was a great show. Steve Walsh I his prime was one of the best vocalists of all time. He had 4 octaves. They were called progressive Rock. It was Robbie Steinhardt's fabulous fiddle that gave them that unique sound.

To me, I find it even more interesting that the album list Steve Walsh as a backup singer! For Steve to take on that role, after being Kansa lead singer for so long, shows real character! As far as anyone of us know, it's looks like Steve wasn't even going to demand that Kansas get back together! He just wanted to help a friend who gave him a chance.

A little back story on Kerry. Both of his grandmothers were devout Christians and when they died he went on a journey to learn more about God and the true meaning of life. He dabbled in all kinds of religions but it wasn't until the lead singer of a band that opened for Kansas did he finally know his search was over. The lead singer told him about Jesus and his love for him. Some time later at 3:am in a hotel room he knelt down and asked Christ to be his Lord and Savior. Such a kind and humble human being. Writing and guitar playing were always stellar. No Standing, case in point.

The inspiration for the song came from Kerry Livgren's admiration for Albert Einstein. After converting to Christianity, he re-recorded the song with his band AD, modifying the lyrics to make them fit the story of Jesus Christ and retitling the song "Portrait II". It's on the album 'Prime Mover' (1988).
