I am South African too and Zack is a favorite 😍 look in the comments people usually put translations in there. Basically the lyrics are him asking her to be his girl but you are right the way Zack sings it he is remembering the promise and joy of the beings of a relationship that has already ended. He also has an English version but it just does not hit the same. This was the song that made me fall in love with him.

Actually, the line "I’m cut like a diamond shinin’ in the rough" meaning is that Diamonds at their natural state can be found in between the dirt and so they “shine in the rough”. This may suggest the personal experience of Lana and Quavo, as two artists that had an hard path, and even if they grow up in difficult situations they are today “shining”. 💎🤠

Kendrick is one of the greats, but em? In reality even kungfu kenny/k.dot/boogieman can't touch em and he knows it. I know as a fan it hurts but for real em was build different (no glazing). Nigeria does not really do amapiano. that is for SA, what they do is really a fusion of sorts. so comparisons are not necessary, Asake is more of a fusion artist(fuji and amapiano), so listening through a purely south african lens you will miss the other elements in his music. 🤣 no one is going to get body slammed
