I swear, Disney must’ve took inspiration from Judy here. Because Cinderella looked so much like Judy did here.

Watching this live must've felt like a religious experience. What a beautiful, beautiful performance by Judy. I know she had a very special relationship with President Kennedy, and took his death extremely hard. He would call her from time to time from the White House, making a special request for her to sing, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" over the phone to him.

Barbara is always uncomfortable. lol. But it doesn’t matter: Judy and Ethel are veterans of the hardscrabble entertainment world-Ethel on Broadway and Garland in Hollywood-and you can see they get on like a house on fire. Streisand is more the delicate, rare orchid-her voice an absolute dream but you wish she could get more comfortable in her skin and have more fun.

George Robert Newhart (September 5, 1929 - July 18, 2024). He and Judy were quite funny in this clever satire about themselves.

I've watched this film since I was old enough to remember back in the 50's and I'm sure I've seen it more than 100 times. That said, while I'm more than a little familiar with the original version (if I sang I could do it from memory) I enjoyed this original version every bit as much even without the live action video to accompany the audio that we are listening to now. When you get to a certain age perhaps picking apart other people's art just isn't satisfying anymore because it's simply okay to just enjoy it. Now I have 2 versions of this beautiful song in my head and I'm grateful for the addition. One person's trash can certainly be another's treasure. Life is short folks, don't waste time not enjoying every moment of the all too brief ride.

It never ever gets old and it never will! Judy defines in this performance the term "leaving it all out there" for Judy,as she almost bashfully, demurely approaches the audience quietly, she knows what she's about to deliver to these people. At this point in her life, the thieves had taken it all from her,the money the security, the future, professional dignity. under 5' tall, baby Gumm "the little girl with the big girls voice" still has that magical ability to touch ever single soul within hearing distance of her voice. Her live performances were still electrifying and she was still evolving, still growing as an artist and entertainer! Look at her upper torso watch how her ribcage expands before the finish, she pulls everything she's got inside and and gives it all completely holding nothing back for herself....

This woman was totally vulnerable alone on the stage in the dark and in a black dress and she took her audience for a ride that no one could forget! Raw emotion and exposed and brilliant!

Wow, seeing the sets move, a piano appear, dancers appear, enormous curtain silently swooshing along and movint into a circle like a tornado, and she keeps going and going and ends with all those spins. That's really spectacular. Was it as powerful and amazing on the film, when it could simply be she isn't going very far at all, but curtains are moving behind her? Because showing the the entire soundstage like that was spectacular. They really made big movies back then.

I love singers that have wonderful voices, but even as they grow older, their voices deteriorate. There are two singers that as they aged, their voices became even better Elvis Presley and Judy Garland.
