Wow! Very good film about a hard topic. I especially liked the use of the closeups.

What a great short film- in just five minutes the director has managed to showcase all the elements that go into filmmaking! Cinematography, editing, spot on sound transitions and emotions. Would love to see more!

Duvernay didn’t have a film this year. But yes I’d take Lulu Wang for The Farewell over Todd Phillips’ Joker easily

Yes totally. We just find it ridiculous that her series, When They See Us, wasn't nominated for anything at all!

When she searched for the site she realized it was an urban legend, where supposedly anyone could start a thread with the title as the name of someone they wanted dead. They would need to post a horrible event that happened to them or a loved one, and only if the story satisfied The Spinner would the person die.

An ambitious story well-told. There are things that need to be commodities, there are others that need local expertise. Do I want to trust a corporate site to tell me what I might like to read, or is the local dood the go-to person. Sometimes the person that knows you and your taste will serve you much better than Jeff Bezos.
