I got a C5 Z06 with a 402 Cubic inch 650 HP LS motor with a 112K miles. Just use’s a quart of oil now and then, and it still gets 18 MPG Chief. I drive it and race it like I stole it. One of the best cars Ive ever owned.
@DirtDude1173 күн бұрын
My current C5 was my fathers that he bought brand new in 2001 and daily drove until his back surgery. It's at 473k on the original engine. The heads have been ported, oil pump upgraded at 150k, 350k, and cam changed each time as well. Hard to beat 390whp and 28mpg!

I’ve owned 8 Corvettes every generation except a C1. it’s not about looks always for me I own a C8 Z51 HTC. The cars phenomenal for performance, I race my Corvettes so performance for the money is the most Important aspect. My favorite body style is still my C2 coupe resto mod.

I’m still not liking the looks of the c8. Just way overdone. The c2 to me is timeless.
@TheGearheadLounge10 күн бұрын
It definitely took some getting used to for me. Personally, I long for the round tail lights that died with the C7. But there's absolutely nothing that can rival the looks of the C2!
@craigthescott50749 күн бұрын
@@TheGearheadLounge Yes I agree i’ve owned my C2 for 42 years!! it’s getting an LS2 with 650 HP and a manual 6 speed this year. The car is lowered for handling and aerodynamics but for the most part it looks stock, big power disk brakes and built suspension, i’m putting in power rack and pinion steering and air conditioning and it’s done!!

Nice video! I'm late to the party, bought my 2017 SRT392 in Octane Red 5 days after Challenger was discontinued 12-31-23. I liked your comment that Dodge could have stopped with the SRT392. To me it's the sweet spot with options.

The '66 to '67 changes, it states in '67 you could still get the 318, as if it were an unchanged option. The '66 318 was the polyspherical 318 and the '67 318 was the first year for the LA wedge 318. So, although they both came with 318s, they were totally different motors sharing nearly zero parts.

this was way better than I was expecting --- That Donavan guy was a genius. That was a major revolution for drag racing. Those factory race cars are so cool but it's really kina cheating when a company builds your car and you just write a check. Also After you grow up and think about it drag racing is kina childish but it's the nature of the human species.
@TheGearheadLounge19 күн бұрын
You are soooo right about the human part! I wish the factories were more involved these days, but the new cars are so much different than race cars compared to back in the 60's and 70's!

From its purchase in 1975 to its sale in 1982, I restored an early 1963 Corvette Roadster in Lincoln Nebraska. I got many parts from a Corvette salvage yard which had an original 1957 black or charcoal (it was very dusty) with silver inserts that they kept inside on jack stands. It came from the factory with no heater or heater fan, but it did have a hard top. I'm pretty sure they told me it was a tri-power. The owner told me it was built to race from the factory. At that time, it was in fantastic original condition. I'm nearly 70 and that was a long time ago, so the above description may have some errors. The insert may have been white, but I don't think so. If a tri-power wasn't available in 57, it would have been what was similar and available in 57. THANKS for this video!

My first car was a 72CHARGER now many years later I found a 73 Charger and scooped it up it is rusty and a little rough i love it, it has a big block that is a transplant but I am not going for all original, just a cool hotrod for cruising and maybe a little track time the biggest complaint is the isolated KFrame and cross member, it's a SE Brougham but it has a ralley dash one part i am having a hard time finding is a trunk lid and the earlier 72 rear bumper brackets, but at least I have something to start with, I think it will look sweet in black or maybe yellow like my first car
