Looks like I'm not the only one getting dazed over the video, what a ride. I'm just a layman with no EE or even programming know-how but watched many channel on the topic. First, this video's thumbnail just exudes "PRO" and that's why I clicked, but then the intro gives early KZfaq career vibes, and I was and still am excited to be an early subscriber without even looking at the channel counter. Two minutes in I was asking myself "What's going on ?! Am I in the matrix?" when the JLCPCB logo comes but still it make sense given the end product, even the soldering montage is hilarious for the presentation alone, the design is so good, but then it was held with a loose tape haha and the relaxing soldering bit is the cherry on top, although a tad too long IMO. Ultimately though, like @JorrelO said, I still have no idea what the thing is and what you're trying to achieve, and I would love even just slightly more details. Given the tittle in the thumbnail, I thought it was a stand-alone video because unlike the other two videos you didn't put the part 3 in the tittle but then says so in the intro card followed by "part 1" the next second haha. It all make sense when it got to the "about channel" part when you said the intention is for self-documentation, but think you already have all the skill set and a pleasant and comforting voice (plus the humor it reminds me of "This old Tony") here's hoping the algo pick this even more. I don't know whether you would go more "maker" space like Great Scott or into more EE focus like Phil's Lab, either way this video got you one more subscriber !

Hey, thanks for your comment! I really appreciate the positive feedback and critiques! Obviously I'm new at this and still learning so I appreciate any sort of feedback regarding presentation, content, etc... At least it seems like I'm on the right track based on the insights you gave. Thanks again, more videos to come and I will definitely incorporate the ideas you mentioned!

Was listening to your 'about the channel' part and I think that it isn't shocking at all that you got an ad for this channel. The content is informative, pacing is good, even some humor there! There are just not that many channels like this. There is Great Scott, which does a good job at explaining things in detail, Phil's Lab, and I might not know half of them. Even still, if you're new to the field then everything that you yourself take for granted is interesting to me. You got this breakout board for supplying power, I'd be interested to know your considerations in making it. Same goes for the parts you soldered yourself, what did you consider to do a one-sided assembly service only? Same goes for the tracing part, maybe there were some interesting considerations, one or two, that you could share. All I can say is that I clicked subscribe after watching one video, looking forward to the next and if it's a personal-log format, I'd still watch it because its interesting!

Hey, thank you for your comment! It really means a lot when someone enjoys my content, and I'm glad that you're looking forward to future videos. Also you make a good point about going into more detail and I'm trying to incorporate that into future videos. Still figuring this stuff out, but I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Your concept and implementation are very elegant. The potential in a little micro board is incredible, it will be interesting to learn exactly where in your development the limitations imposed by memory constraints will begin to restrict further features.

What a first crack man. Wait till you learn to optimize your code better, you'll be writing an emulator. Not an insult brother, I'm really impressed. We're you using bounding boxes to translate the coordinates for motion? I'm blind and couldn't read your math. Looks like you used the unit circle and grabbed the arctan of the grid position. Cool. I fucking love math. You could easily do translations in 3d space I bet for polygons. All up in the quaternions soon. I wrote a fractal rendering algorithm a while back and it ran like ass because I'm rusty as shit. I don't code nearly as often as I should anymore. You inspired me as I was just doing a rotary encoder thing and my only 2004 screen died haha. I ordered the oled you have haha. Thanks for the awesome vid again.

Thank you for your comment! Yeah the menu starts in polar coordinates and the X and Y coordinates of each icon is found using a rcos(theta) and rsin(theta), I'll try to go into more detail on the math side of the projects in future videos, but for now the code is available if you're curious! Thanks again for watching and your comment!

@ashtf gotcha I remember the math now. Well I'd have to do a quick Google but it's been a while since I wrote procedural graphics. I'd make a game if I could do decent pixel art haha. Throw a metroidvania together that'll piss the wokesters off. Just for giggles, I got no beef with them. Haha I avoid social media except for yt.

Very cool. Espressif added faster fp logic blocks with the s3. Try a teensy brother. You could do some impressive stuff with a teensy 4.1 and that screen. The esp will take a shit if you get too ambitious with what kinda compute you want haha. Great job man

@ashtf it's got a blazing fast cpu that can be clocked to 1ghz. It's a fully featured arm cpu. I can't wait to see the 5. It was gonna come out years ago but covid. Paul stoffogren is the person who designed the whole thing. He/they (I'm not sure) is a genius. Half the arduino libraries were written by him too. The cpu has way more features than the pre pi5 boards (that are over priced). You can buy renewed business pcs for the same price that are way faster.
