This was an eye opener for me Steve. I have never fished a wacky rig weightless. If I was fishing deeper water, I would just set it aside. I'm going to give the weighted wacky a try! That underwater footage was fantastic.

Why not blood scent? Wouldn't that work best to attract bass?

Steve as an old fart I remember when we had black and white lures but tackleboxes are WOKE these days. Only cream colored lures. You can't deny when it comes to any form of professional fishing sports cream colored lures are good! The warn lures with the least action stay in the top blue tray where it's easier to get out. Some say the box can be like a public school teacher, the easier ya carry it the more racket it makes. I personally do not know? I prefer to think of it as an aging beauty queen and a cow patty, the older they get the easier they both are to pick up. That's another video... You deserved a comment and a like. I have to entertain myself, fortunately for these folks I don't get out much.

Would love to see and know how adding jig skirt material ( needle and thread method ) to one end, both ends, and in the middle effects fall and action.

The slightly larger size ned head, texas rig instead of straight jig head rig, don't come all the way through with the point. TRD's are soft enough to allow hook set. Just slightly harder swing to make sure

Hi there Steve, thanks for all your epic videos. Steve I have been fishing weighted wacky for a long time and it's my number one go to set-up.!! I use a short shank circle or octopus hook with a small tungsten weight pegged with a gummy stop right up against the eye of the hook.! Neat presentation that delivers great results..🎣🎣🎣

Looks like you could start with no weight then add small split shots til you found the best rate of fall for that day, then tie on a weighted wacky hook of that size (just to save time over cutting and retrying various weighted hooks)

do bass even hear high pitch sounds? are the high pitch noises therefore silent? the bait you should test is the v110 its the standard in jerkbaits and best all around ever... its cashed the most tournament money for a JERKBAIT, it catches multi-species well, its what everyone tries to copy, etc. does the material (abs, bone materials, etc) its made of effect the sound? ever heard shad clicks???

2 different types of scent... one for taste and one for attraction. oil based is most definitely for the taste. makes them hold on longer and although water based could do the same it washes off the bait quicker. think about it like chumming... oil can also attract but it doesnt do as well as water based because water and oil dont mix well. water based doesnt stick long in water it disperses... certain fish are more prone to scent such as catfish vs not as big of a factor in bass. but can never hurt. good for covering up that human hand scent...

stick baits with salt are just overpriced if you are adding weight. you add weight to saltless versions for durable same action at a cheaper cost. wonder about the effects of different Orings and tubes for wacky applications. and definitely need to watch the curvature of the baits almost all stickbaits are curved for action, if you rig it incorrectly the action is not there anyways. I think people miss this when rigging.
@youtubzkoz
@youtubzkoz Күн бұрын
with the zman you can rub the end to get the salt out and get better action as well. make the ends of the bait more buoyant.

Another great video. When I used to scuba dive, I noticed the upward back lit contrast. I have always wondered do lure colors really matter when the bass is looking upwards. But when looking at fish sideways or downwards, you could really tell the brilliance of their markings.

3 of us were throwing soft plastic lures on the beach. A friend had squid scent on a prawn soft plastic while we were using prawn and paddle tails without scent. Our friend caught 2 Barramundi with the scent and we caught noticing. So does it work? Possibly?

I fish in the saltwater all the time and I think I should try wacky rigged worms for redfish and flounder. Bumping one on the bottom should be awesome for flounder, and for sighting and casting to redfish I think it could be amazing. I'd definitely put some ProCure or Dr Juice scent on for either application. That slow fall with the 1/16th weight or even an 1/8 oz should drive a flounder crazy in shallow water and 1/4 might be alright for deeper water. Flounder can be really tough to hook so you wouldn't want a bait over 6", and 4 or 5" should be perfect. I gotta try wacky rigs in the saltwater.

maybe a good test is just put 2 lures with bass attractant and count how many fish come to investigate, and do the same thing for the ones without attractant. This way your able to quantify if the attractant can pull in passing fish.

Agree 100%. And your videos are packed with information. Thanks Steve. It’s obvious you put a lot of work into your videos. The underwater footage is so helpful for lure selection and action, and especially for bass behavior. Top notch stuff. You could easily host a bass fishing show on broadcast TV. 👍🏼🎣
