Hello. Is it possible to replace the cylinder with pretty much any other cylinder? For example: Replace the Corbin Russwin cylinder with a Schlage cylinder. Also, can I put the ring that protects the cylinder from brute force attacks on my Schlage cylinder do you think?

Is the red screw always installed on the "slope" side of the latch body, where the latch is sloped away?

I am not a fan of crossbar style exit devices. Sometimes called "trapeze style" or lever style, or even "push down" style. They get called a lot of things but crossbar exit devices are the worst. They always need repair and are always the first to break down. Everything from broken crossbar return springs, relaxed bar lever springs, latch bolt spring problems, difficultly of finding parts, worn dogging mechanisms, bar suddenly coming undogged during the day (you can see it happen on the surveillance cameras), crossbar return spring issues, sagging crossbars, doors failing to latch due to sagging crossbars, even loose, broken, damaged, and/or even missing crossbar issues. I work as a facility maintenance manager at a swimming pool and a Siblings and Nieces facility and we have crossbar exit devices and I hate them. When a crossbar exit device breaks, I automatically replace it with the push pad type exit device. I just like the push pad style exit devices. Crossbar exit devices are full of problems...no joke.

I just want to say how appreciative I am for Russel putting this together. It really made my day so much better when I found this.
