I took on a side job in a saw repair shop. The amount of home owner saws I would see with abused chains was flabbergasting. They would say the saw is not working right.

You’ll kill that motor by over sizing the cap. It will be fine for a little while but you really should order the correct size.

I had to replace my fan motor and the new motor asked for a 5uf but my freshly installed dual cap is a 3uf which is what my old motor used, having trouble getting the correct cap so I decided just to run it on the 3 uf and hope for the best, been running for a few days without issues I'm thinking it maybe because my power from the wire 246v but I don't have enough experience to say that ok but I've seen on some motors they ask for different caps based on the voltage like 208 vs 240v. Knowing that I wouldn't have used a 7.5 or a 10 for sure. What do you think?
