I feel sorry for the coxswain but he is taking blame for that. At those levels you cannot pull like that towards the wall. The boat it was angled too much to consider that incident as only a rowers' problem.

As a non-rower but avid supporter of Brookes I would say their coxing might occasionally be challenging. Not half as fierce as the Boat Race crews on the Tideway, though!

Yeah Thames. Fastest women's crew of the day in any event. Third win in a row for Thames. First time any crew (male OR female) in any event has done that since 2015. Despite the awful conditions this was also the fastest time in the event all week (and in fact since the heats of 2023 when the Thames B went one second faster - with two of the rowers in this boat aboard) Class, pure class.

I think we all would agree that my alma mater, Newcastle ‘A’ lads would have put up a better fight in the grand. Gutted and confused that they were not selected for this one. It was the Huskies’ own toxic masculinity that steered themselves into the booms. Disappointed as I’m sure the blue star would have put up the best fight, I will have to have a word with the stewards xx

As a rower at NAC in the 1994 season, I'm super impressed how far that program has come! When I was there, we had two women's 8+, and 7 men. I stroked the men's Novice 4+ and sat 2 in the Varsity 4+.
