You can make anything with a Holley ecu surge with the IAC correction set to fast. FYI, if you want a badass efi plate with tons of thought and engineering involved, specifically designed for a B&U style hat hit me up! I recently designed a proprietary efi system and am currently working on the patent. Already have 50 kits with hardware made and assembled ready to go. You can make a small cam surge with tuning, but you can not make a large duration cam idle smooth and stop surging with tuning. Put a cam in there with 330 duration to make power from 7k up, and try to make it idle without surging... You can't...... Stating that camshafts never cause surge, is a blanket statement, that is not correct.... Stating that your camshaft doesn't cause surge, could and can be correct, based entirely on the camshaft specs in question....

The way I try to get friends to understand this phenomena is it's like a human breathing. When the engine speeds up it's taking a breath, slowing down it's exhaling. If you listen to yourself breath, we make the exact same sound.

Absolutely detest blower surge.

What I understand you to be addressing is called blower-surge. This happens bc the intake charge literally changes temperature from hot to cold and back again which effectively alters your idle mixture, repeatedly, due to the density variations of the charge temperature. If you install a fast-acting temp gauge for your charge-air, you would see for yourself

Yeah, I have to say that the injector hat flex fits the character of the car just as much as the idle surge. I wouldn’t change a thing.

I have had a similar problem and garage did sorting out but then I found the car was running lean and had a loss of power. I was more worried that the surge would cause damage to my engine. (Would it?) If not then I've got toʻ get garage to give me back the power I've lost.

Hi Griffin, Thanks for your great video, I installed a lightened flywheel on my car around 5 years ago, it worked great for 5 years, now the clutch slips under heavy acceleration. Is it possible the lightened flywheel could be warped causing the clutch to slip and require replacement? Is there anyway I can test for this without pulling the flywheel out? Thanks

Well your compression ratio is way HIGH dude! no wonder it does not start right off after sitting for a bit.. I like the 440 better than the 426.. HEMI 440 modified a bit.. I'd run 10:1 ratio not 13:1! on compression.. I'd use a NOS system though at 10:1..just in times of need LOL!

I heard the electric fuel pump and all you have to do is wait for it to fill up the float bowls and use the accelerator pumps to start and keep the engine running until it warms up! My '72 with a 440 that has been "poked and stroked" to 528ci with tunnel ram and dual quad hollies with no chokes will start just fine even after setting. Keeping it running until it warms up when cold out is harder than getting it to fire initially.

CDL & air brake endorsements vary from state to state. In the state I live in no CDL is required if you register the truck as a RV. You can drive a class 8 without a CDL as long as it is registered as an RV. I know Texas requires an air brake endorsement.

I just purchased a 2022 Freightliner M2 106 Sport Chassis with air brakes installed by the privious owner and I asked my sales guy, doi I need a CDL to operate my personal use or "Not for Hire" Sport Chassis and he stated I do not need a CDL to operate my SC with air brakes? I live in MN not sure if that make a differnece. Also, prices must have been much higher a year ago, you can purchase a brand new well appointed SC right now for $190K-$220K.

If you want a light weight flywheel and you also want to drag race, get a set of adjustable cam gears and short headers/intake manifold. The idea is that you are moving the power curb to lower RPMs. The cam gear can be set to give you power at low RPMs. This is ideal for a light weight car like the civics that can hook and go without moving so much weight.
