What an incredible treat. Thanks for sharing! I have so much respect and admiration for both of these amazing musicians. They stand head and shoulders above many of their peers and, without a doubt, eclipse most of the talent out there today. It’s wonderful hearing them laugh and genuinely enjoy each other’s company. Ritchie once said that RJD was one of the few people who could make him laugh, and hearing him in such a good mood, laughing, joking, and enjoying himself is wonderful. I love hearing him speak, because you’d almost never imagine that this soft-spoken, intelligent, seemingly proper English gentlemen would be responsible for producing some of the loudest, in-your-face hard rock and often displaying wild stage antics. And I simply adore RJD. His singing voice, charisma, and showmanship were unparalleled, and he was a kind and generous human being, who was loved by so many. It’s unfortunate that their relationship soured, but these things happen when two strong-willed, opinionated, controlling, and perfectionist personalities are put together. And it certainly doesn’t help when outside forces are trying to impose their will and are stirring the pot. Much has been said about Blackmore possessing a big ego, being difficult, and chewing up and spitting out those with whom he worked, but the man was incredibly serious and disciplined about his art and had no tolerance for those who didn’t put in the same effort. Some said that RJD was also difficult, but these gentlemen earned the right to demand focus, seriousness, and a hard work ethic from those around them. The age of Blackmore/Dio was the absolute best and produced some exceptional music.

The album that introduced me to metal when I was 14. I still listen to it now at age 54 and it still sounds as tough and fresh as it did then.

I had a paper route when I bought this album. I think it was like 13 bucks.… I literally remember carrying it around just in case it came across the turntable or some shit that he played on. People were known throughout history to carry around things they really did like.… I am not the first one to carry around a silly piece of vinyl…
