what is going on here? What is it with those nutcases that always try to control others? I don't get it. This is BAD. They good die young. Frank was only 53. This is BAD.

Of course the founding fathers weren't thinking of Zappa sort of music. Music wasn't even accessible if you couldn't pay a musician or played yourself. They couldn't imagine typhoid not being a problem. Apples and oranges bad faith nonsense.

Bill Hicks ain't dead. He ran from the CIA and changed his identity to a conspiracy theorist from Texas named Alex Jones.

"A new voice"? Damn, CNN was already behind the curve in 1991. Bill had been touring and performing for a decade by then, partied with Sam Kinison and the Texas Outlaw comics, sobered up, and was on the verge of touring the UK and becoming a cult sensation there.

Yes! Freedom of expression was/is exactly what our forefathers had in mind. Nevermind the slaves (there weren't just black ones, ya know) that Africans sold them, they were brilliant and had fantastic foresight. The country they established is the very nation where black, brown, yellow people move to to escape their incompetent leaders.

The first amendment applies to speech we don’t like. Because if speech we did like was ok, there wouldn’t be a need for the first amendment. Simple as that. Do I agree with Frank Zappa’s brand of music. I do not. But it was his right as an American to sing about it. Don’t like it, Don’t Listen.

One of my professors in the film Department at U of M shot this. I think as the story goes, they were doing a documentary shoot on local standup comedy so they went down to a now-defunct comedy club on Highland Ave to get some B-Roll and set up before the show. Hicks was there early and asked if they wanted to interview him. So they did and the result is arguably one of the best interviews of Hicks that we have.
