So do you think people should lose their wrist angle right at impact then? I'm also starting to believe that you can hold the angle as long as you have Trails side Bend
@Thegolfparadigm
@Thegolfparadigm 19 сағат бұрын
You don’t have to lose the wrist angle, especially if you maintain trial side bend. For many struggling with keeping their forward bend too long, and as a result their wrist angles for far too long it’s one solution for them to work towards.

6.7 hcp, 125 rounds a year + stroke play tournaments. At 70 years old, back problems and arthritis (hands) led me to try the TaylorMade mimi-driver. I absolutely hit the ball farther and more consistently. Shhhhh, don’t tell my opponents the truth. Thanks for the great common sense explanation.

Interesting video in biomechanics principles. I made extensive tests with Cure adjustable putters and the IPing app. This is what i have found: My best results were with 72 deg lie (i also have an old Dead centre titleist which is around 72 deg) . The 74 or more deg in real play on a real green is an issue because grees are not flat. If your feet are lower that the ball, or the opposite, it creates a significant distortion in your aim. I purchased a Vale putter from Bloodline and I will replace the shaft for a 72 Deg, which is agood compromise. I do agree with your assesment that 70 deg is too flat for the majority of golfers.
@Thegolfparadigm
@Thegolfparadigm 16 күн бұрын
The putter’s sole needs to be flat on any slope - ball above or below the feet. Adjusting the sole of the putter to flat is the first step followed by moving closer or further from the ball as the shaft angle will change. Would disagree with its an issue on real greens as Brysons putter is quite upright and he continues to putt well. But for your own personal putting if 72 is your comfort zone that allows you to make more putts then by all means. Just be sure to grip the handle more firmly to eliminate vertical torque.
@stratojetb47
@stratojetb47 16 күн бұрын
@@Thegolfparadigm Bryson elevated the game to science indeed. What I also noticed with the Iping app is this: no matter which lie I use (Cure is adjustable from 68 to 79 deg) I tend have a 1 to 1.5 deg more upright at impact. So I will use your biomechanic measurements to determine which lie I should use. It seems that I can adjust as long as the loie is not uner 70 deg.

Doesn’t matter how you take it back. What matter is the 4” of pre to post impact. Bobby Locke took it inside as did Crenshaw. Others took it with less arc. They can both work if it’s understood how.

@@Thegolfparadigm I'm not giving advice to pros. Presumably, the people reading my comment suck at putting. An easy way to be more consistent is to upright the shaft and take the putter back on a straight line with the face square, rather than coming inside and hoping you get the face square at the moment of impact

the conversation surrounding smylie is an important thing i tell my friends or people who object to the idea of decade - you can play golf any way you want. if you want to hit hero shots in your saturday game that's your prerogative but it's not mathematically optimal. so, if you want to shoot the lowest score over the course of the season there's really no debate about how to play the game.

I know one thing for sure. I bought a Taylormade driver years ago Rbg or something like that. I tried a demo driver before hand and hit it well. So, I bought the same club, NEW off the rack. I took it to the range and couldn't control the slice. I told the assistant Pro who does club repair, etc. He said the shaft wasn't properly lined up. I left it with him and picked it up a few days later, went to the driving range and it hit perfectly. I didn't notice any diference in the height or lower trajectory of the balls. Since then I have spined aligned all of my woods. Thanks for the article, I have never heard of the pros and cons of aligning the shafts.

If that’s the ‘S’ word then you’re likely staying in position while pulling the arms across the body. Or you’re moving the body towards the ball and when that happens so does the hosel. Neither are good.

For rear anchor, I don't see how you can physically have the centre of the sternum behind that rear pivot point.

It’s at the top of the backswing, not at address. JB Holmes and Gary Woodland are the two best examples of this.

At 3:18 in the address position for Lee Trevino, you said the sternum was behind the fixed point that he was going to turn around. But yes , I agree that the sternum is probably closer in line with the trail hip socket at the top of the backswing.

The “coliseum” ? “coliseum” ?? I love golf as it has traditionally been played. I love the tradition, the decorum, the rules, the sportsmanship and the courtesy displayed on the course. IMHO the 16th at the WM is one of the worst things to happen in golf. It’s a “monster” and the PGA has created it and we’ll rue the day it began. If you want football and all the noise and chaos that goes with it, go to a football game. I’ll do the same but I see nothing good about the “coliseum” mentality in golf; except maybe the bottom line for advertisers. Golf doesn’t need it! So, let LIV have it. And for the PGA players and other hypocrites who encourage the "chaos" but then demand absolute calm and quiet and no movement at other tournaments......you asked for it.

Horrendous advice. You’re asking someone to consistently time all of that on each shot. Keep the weight forward from start and move it more forward through impact. You will never have a consistent low point swinging like this
@Thegolfparadigm
@Thegolfparadigm 2 ай бұрын
Each person is different and requires differences in their swing. But all have 3 torques during their swing, to various degrees and regardless of swing theory adhered to. There is also consistent timing required for any swing or swing theory. Advocating for only one way to swing the club for everyone isn’t advised.

@@Thegolfparadigm I agree, but weight shift was my demon. Stacked left side made proper contact nearly automatic. I will say there is a power loss since you've removed inertia some, but fats/thins weren't helping the scorecard.

Pressure shifts happen in all swing models, even S&T. It will vary to certain degrees but it does happen. Without seeing your swing it sounds like you would be a front anchor, or front post golfer, where any theory that allows you to stay pivoting around the lead leg would be beneficial. Nice to hear you’re benefitting

To your comment about Greg Norman, I think he is very forward thinking, a genius really. He has exposed the inequities of the PGA Tour, like saying their players are "independent contractors" and then treating them like indentured servants. Then, after hating on him unmercifully, they copy all of his improvements. I also think the PGA Tour would have lost anti-trust lawsuits had they not agreed to drop them and merge, which actually has not happened.
