NEAT! I'm a rote level flight student, my beliefs are longer mission times and lowers speeds are probably a dealbreaker. Aft center of gravity is probably awful; also more control of the relative wind into the rotor cage might be able to vector the thrust safely.

PUT THE system on a antonov 2 biplane and see the difference. The AN2 ihas enough safety margin to do the experiment. (from a non-professional) 🤓

bro either this dude immigrated from the US or his accent is just that accurate. Its wierd though because he talks the exact same way you would expect a german dude to talk, even in terms of mannerisms. But the mf is also speaking with a perfect US accent too. Its kinda trippy tho.

You don’t need a scientist to experiment just a curiosity like the wright brothers. I’ve even thought of this myself.

This is an example of direct and indirect government employees who get paid to do nothing. There’s no expectation of a return on the investment. They call this truck “pure science”. Governments claim that expecting a return on an investment puts too much pressure on the employees. That’s done. We don’t need millions of guys just sitting around. And we don’t need junk “pure science” either. The only thing we need is a free market, with very low taxes. If a company wants to risk its own money on applied research, then it can. Taxpayers have no obligation to do so. No more grants of any kind. Period. And no more overstaffed agencies. The headcount at NASA needs to be reduced by eighty percent. Same for every other department and agency. “Scientists” are men who get paid for doing nothing of value. Their real job title is “Freeloader”.
This is very interesting. Something that will need to be considered is the resiliency of the aircraft if something damages the propeller (birds, etc.) during flight. How strong are the propellers and how will the aircraft maintain stability so it can get down safely?

Has anything more happened with this, I would be interested in purchasing the cross flow fan that is used in the wing for one of my projects.

If they want to use the wind tunnel for real world testing application, they need to throw in a goose or two and see what happens. 🤣

The creator of this airplane should at least provide the same amount of engines as a Four-engined jet aircraft, where a malfunction can be "easily" managed using the remaining engines. Otherwise, a single malfunction could lead to a certain crash.

When I was a kid in the 50's, I had a kite that had the same rotor system the same as shown. Here it is back again--they sure took their time thinking about it!
@bmull813 жыл бұрын
@ Jack Frost - Yes, I had something like that - it was made of celluloid, iirc, with a bent wire axle for the rotors, which were s-shaped in cross-section (similar to a savonius rotor:- upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/ac/Savonius_turbine.svg) rather than a true cross-flow fan configuration. It needed more wind than my home-made split bamboo and tissue kite, but it would handle very strong winds indeed. Flew it on the beach, around 1952.

Can it take off in the rain? Ducted Fan designs are SUPPOSE to provide a lot of benefits but in practice these SUPPOSED benefits have yet to materialize. However kudos for thinking outside the box.
