Although Ben Hur is a work of fiction, this motion picture is so well made that watching it is quite a religious experience. A key ingredient of this experience is Miklos Rozsa's stunning score. If you are a lover of the vinyl experience, original soundtracks and western classical music, this record is a must-have. A lot of folks are unware that Miklos actually conducted the 100-piece MGM symphony orchestra himself, recorded for 72 hours across 12 lengthy sessions. The original recording was done in 6-track stereo (rare for the 1950s). The end product was a classical music performance stretching for nearly 3 hours. About 2 hrs 30 min of the soundtrack was eventually used in the movie. However this entire soundtrack was released in 1959 as a 3-LP box set, and thereafter as an abridged single LP. Great stuff!

Thanks for sharing! What is most interesting to me is how in the world did these photographers manage to create all these fantastic images without wall-to-wall AF points, eye AF, 1mil ISO, 100MP, GPS, wireless, 15 stops of dynamic range, etc? This really reminds me about what photography is and how deep the marketing of camera companies have penetrated our brains.

I am a novice photographer, but held a F4s in my hands a couple of years ago and loved it's feel and sound and new I found a camera I wanted for film photography. Although I have since purchased a D7000, my fascination and desire for F4s has not changed, if anything probably increased especially within the first 5 mins of this video. From my limited knowledge and experience, I feel/believe it is giving me more than of enough not only for the 4s but also photography in general. I am enjoying it so much and cannot wait to get hold of this camera and utilising it and my D7000 to its fullest. I may also get an F and an 810 for professional work with the D7000 as a back up? and maintain 4s for my own personal pleasure in which I am getting it for and maybe for the odd professional shoot if that type of photography is warranted. If anyone sees this comment I would be most grateful for your response letting me know if my thinking is sound or otherwise/or alternative considerations alongside my own limited consideration. F4 was my 1st AF F body, and eventually sold it because I prefer something lighter like FM2. And after watching this video, guess having a F4 again isn't a bad idea... :D

Thank you, thank you, thank you for putting this up. I listened to this tape to the point of wearing it out when I was a kid. Was too young to know the album title but knew all of the songs like the back of my hand. I have to say that this is the absolute best version of the Love Theme from Superman in my opinion. Most recordings are too slow and this one has such beautiful balance between the instruments - like they're having a conversation with each other. So wonderful to hear it again.

Because of onerous re-use fees established by the AFM at the time, M-G-M chose to re-record Rozsa's music in Rome with musicians from the Symphony Orchestra of Rome. Recorded at RCA Italiana [not credited] studios, located in a former wine cellar, the sound was far from ideal. The re-issue on CD features improved sound thanks to careful remastering.

sounds about the difficulty of liszt etude, but what do i know

@@chuukki It seems to me more difficult than Liszt's studies, in my opinion it is at the level of the hardest things of Alkan or of the easiest of Sorabji.
