My favorite song. Reminds me of my daughter Alana Branstetter, lost her life at 16 10 days after her birthday. It was to AML . She fought for 9 months 😢

I spent many happy times on this little beauty. After hitting the Ticket Booth, I headed to the Merry-Go-Round for my very first ride of the day, and it was always my last ride of the day. I usually rode it at least twice in between, too. My mom and dad were kids of the '20s, and I was a kid of the '50s, and we all remembered fun times at Glen Echo. I even had 3 birthday parties there. Sorry more rides weren't saved, but very glad that the Dentzel was restored to its original glory. Sure wish I could take one last ride. Thanx muchly for sharing! (edit for typo)

Wow. Just wow. You have no idea how happy I am to find this lovely treasure! I grew up on that magnificent, wonderful beauty! I no longer live in Maryland, and I'm 74 now, so I'll probably never get another chance to actually ride it again. Thank you so very very very much for giving me a 'virtual' one last ride!

Omigawd! Instant very happy nostalgia trip! Thank you sooooooo very very very much for sharing this! My mom was born in 1926, and she grew up, riding on this beautiful machine. I came along in 1949, and I 'lived' on it, as often as I could. I'm so very glad that it was restored. It would have been a shame to just let this beauty die. I no longer live in Maryland, so I can't actually go and ride it any more, but I really appreciate this opportunity to 'virtually' take one last ride. Thank you so very much, again, for sharing this little treasure! (edit bc of typo)

I was one of the many present who sung along with Tom a the Albert Hall to this beautiful song in the sixties (the original version). Why oh why did he feel the need to add the later verse about walking the street and the subway rumbling underground. It doesn't fit. The other verses are so poignant .
