This is the Godfather of time. Clocks going back at least 50 years. Gears and pins common wsir, but you first have to understand the clock. And the fail-safe. Excellent timer.

Yes, I am new to TXVs, I am having issues with a system that was running ok, then I didn't like the way it was running. I did a pump down, cleaned the evaporator coil. I did a nitrogen pressure test on the system; it held no leaks. Did a vacuum down to 400 microns. Now I have low suction pressure60 psi or so, good subcool, with poor cooling inside the home. I next am looking to clean the TXV because of the nitrogen test. I think it moved the inside debris to the TXV and caused this issue. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated. Great video!

Here in Ohio I try to do the same, there are many options and drop ins for r22, some you have to change the oil and metering devices……my question is what kind of compressor did you use, I heard the scroll part but don’t know about the compressor type

Good stuff what was the original diagnosis. And it's good to see people fixing rather than replacing. Me and my family run a small HVAC business and we primarily try to fix rather than replacing. With that being said when we do replace we usually put in York units. Also the fieldpiece gages are really nice

Interesting, I work on a lot of 30ton Lieberts that have p66 speed controllers or VFDs for the condenser fan motors. When the p66 or VFDs die we jump them out until we can replace them. This causes low head pressure during the winter, I was only worried about oil return, good to know this too. The TXVs are SVE-10 or SVE-15 depending upon size, not sure if its a balance port or conventional txv type.
@mikerefrigeration5736
@mikerefrigeration5736 4 ай бұрын
Yeah I'm pretty sure SVE series is not balance port so head pressure is critical in having proper superheat. You need at least 200-250 psi head pressure for conventional r22 txvs or else you'll have superheat issues. In some cases compressor could kick off on LP. If your suction is too low you may have oil return issues too. Head pressure is literally a major opening force on a conventional TXV

How did you determine to go with a 2.5 ton?
@mikerefrigeration5736
@mikerefrigeration5736 4 ай бұрын
I counted each bedroom on a notepad and seen what I would put for a register and added all the cfm together into a number. Came out to approximately 1000cfm. It's and old school way sizing systems.
@jacobboeschen6391
@jacobboeschen6391 4 ай бұрын
@@mikerefrigeration5736 so you went with a 400 cfm/ton approach rather than conducting a manual J load calc and selecting equipment via manual S parameters?
@mikerefrigeration5736
@mikerefrigeration5736 4 ай бұрын
@jacobboeschen6391 yeah. Do you do that on every job? How much additional time is to perform a load calculation? I would be interested in learning how to do load calculations. Although the average customers budget is a concern. I do size my flex for .05. The problem is the customers budget. Residential is a tough market here in RI. Flex wasn't even to code on this job. It was r6 instead of r8.

I never considered solder on hvac in residential 😂 just trained different. Will need to try it next time rather then carrying around my ace/oxy everywhere. And yeah 4 to 2.5 might be drastic seems like they were oversizing to oversell. Also prolly complained due to humidity up there during the summer

Soldering is the best option on soft linesets where you're doing minimal joints imo. Brazing is always a must. But solder when you can. Makes life easier. Here in Rhode island, a lot of guys stay brite 8 here.

Hi Mike. Just wanted to share with you. This is from Daikin manual "...Using a chlorine flux may cause the pipes to corrode, and if it contains fluoride it may cause the refrigerant lubricant to deteriorate, adversely affecting the refrigerant piping system. Use phosphor copper brazing (B-Cu93P-710/795: ISO 3677) which does not require flux..."
