Thats why properly mastered songs have soundwaves that look like one long rectangle instead of many peaks and valleys. To get the appropriate and best sounding normalization, first you Have to cut adjacent freqencies in order to give space for boosting a particular piece of a sound you want to emphasize at that moment in time. Each piece of the overall sound, properly assigned the correct spectrum position can then be as "loud" as possible.

Wow I know I'm late to this but I don't think I've ever come across a creator capable of really explaining these principles in a way that's so practically helpful as well. Thank you!

well done mate. I was not sure if you were going to nail it but by the end it was a great vid. Fortunately I studied physics so did not get lost on the first parts. But ultimately you get people who are great on a guitar who don't know the name of the chord they are playing, and also people who just mix well without knowing what a fourier transform is for example. However, you actually nailed both and your tips were useful. I will certainly put more time into my next mix bearing these eq cuts in mind. Hopefully I'll get something cleaner, and not lose certain sounds in the mix. I would just say that the sound on your video is not great though! Keep up the good work. I will check out your other vids. Thanks
