First, try applying the silver sharpie only on the affected area. Do several coats, and allow each to thoroughly dry. Then, using a paper towel, lightly rub the area across the scratch, not in the same direction as the scratch. and what in hell were you hoping to accomplish by rubbing alcohol on the area? You should have thoroughly cleaned the area with alcohol prior to putting on the sharpie coats. if you’re still not happy with the results, try getting some silver modeling paint at your local hobby store and repeating the process with that. Apply the paint, but don’t allow it to thoroughly dry before lightly buffing it.

So in the step where you put the latch back it is not exactly “pull forward” it is pulling towards you

Correct! Pull towards you. I could have worded that better.

Thanks for the fix! For me the spring was ok but the cable wasn't locked in the mechanism so the seats didn't fold. Super easy!

Fujifilm do not care about these problems, they already have our cash!

We pay so much for Fujifilm cameras, they shouldn’t so easily. Never a silver version again. Although I prefer Fujifilm, you don’t get the same problem with Canon.

Today, I just painted my Black X100V and I had several options to choose from. I tried black marker pen, acrylic, and wheel touch-up color. Comparing, after several attempts, it turned out that the wheel touch-up was the best choice, durable, and had a similar shine to the original finish. I have to repeat multiple times using a specific erasing liquid (not alcohol, not nail paint remover) to erase the excess with an eraser and cotton bud. Repeat until the surface is (near) perfectly smooth.

Hey, I recently had issues with the driver-side back seats not folding and I checked this and it seems to be fine. Would you be able to assist with how your mechanism in the little box behind the seat looks like? For mine it seems like its working but not pulling on anything.

Hi, this is the sharpie I used: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00009RAX4 It's a pretty decent match but I haven't tried other colors. Good luck!

Closing remarks: It was worth it! I would do it again, but I would pay special attention not to sharpie over the good parts of the finish, because that looks weird. I would use an "extra fine" sharpie instead of just "fine" like I did here to avoid painting over the good finish! I would also keep some of those thin cosmetic q-tips around damp (NOT soaked) with rubbing alcohol to wipe off excess sharpie from the good finish.

Maybe try masking off the good finish around the scratch with some washi tape? It's like masking tape but much finer
