Hello Just came across the video. Where did you get the replacement parts/ rebuild kits ? Thank you

3:24 my input shaft does not go all the way down. Had to pull it to remove an old pulley that was froze on. Came out really easy but seems to be hitting something at the bottom. The shaft is keyed but does not seem to go in any position. Stops about 3/8in from going all the way in. If anyone has an idea about what it may be hitting I would love to know. I really don't want to pull the entire thing just to re-install this one part.

I'm dizzy, upside down, unsure, and wondering why you even put this video to try to help people. Cracking the case and rebuilding a leaking hydro system is an intimidating task. You did little to instill confidence in people, left out many of the details, dropped the hydro, installed parts incorrectly,and filmed it one handed. The upside is, if this less than enthusiastic and unsure dude can do it, the average meticulous person can for sure.

Completely submerged in oil.

Maybe I'm an idiot. I didn't find this as helpful as some others did. If you are looking to figure out how to carefully disassemble your hydrostat, you're in the wrong place.

Where's a good place to go for rebuild info for a zt-2800? Might have to rebuild mine.

You should have shown a better look at how it’s set up

Holy shit. The swashplate was upside-down. You cannot scratch those dude.

2:21 lmao I see so many positive comments about this video. The only thing he confirmed for me is the 4 O-rings on the brake shaft (the service manual shows 2 O-rings and doesn't show where they go very well). But after seeing that swashplate-pump assembly being put in upside down... so many questions lol. Does it even fit like that? What was the outcome (oh I guess he flipped it later)? The case and center section are aluminum and the pump/plate are steel, so I can only imagine that required at least a new center section (as I recall the top of that swash is just rough cast surface and not machined).

Thanks for the video. It gave me the part number(72134) that I needed to make my new ZT-3100 custom fit on my 60" Swisher Zero Turn mower. The pulley was too low and need to be on top of the fan and not the way the transaxle had it on the bottom of the fan. Appreciate it. Great video!

As a professional mechanic for close to 50 years, I love watching these videos where some guy is supposedly showing you how to rebuild something and he's calling the components a "thingy" or "this part". Damn Dude.... Go out on Hydro-Gear.com and get the parts manual. At least you can use the correct nomenclature to distract people from your bumbling. The "thingy" you tried to put on upside-down was the pump assembly. It's the #1 component to check when you have one side weaker than the other. The service manual says specifically to punch mark the orientation of the plate. At least you figured out why...... BTW the Flat Rate time on a ZT2800 rebuild is 1.5 hours

At the very beginning .. the shaft with the 4 O rings ... my shaft is leaking also.. did you have to pull the 4 bolts to remove that shaft?
@styga19696 жыл бұрын
It's leaking on the back side where you showed it also. Does that shaft come out easy or do you have to pull that cover that's hold on by the 4 bolts. Thanks.

Been a mechanic for close to 50 years. Built 100's of these. Using RV sealant on one of these is asking for disaster. Hydro-Gear sells their on proprietary sealer, or you can use PERMATEX GASKET ELIMINATOR. Both are anaerobic sealers. The Hydro-Gear factory service manual says the sealing bead for both the center section and the outer case should be no more than 1/16" to 1/8" wide. If you put it on like you're icingng a cake, you're going to end up with slivers of RV sealer in your pump/drive circuit. RV sealer won't hold up long-term to the heat and pressure.

David Barker I haven't done much with this other than the seals to fix the leak..have done some older eaton that you could see the warn out part one it was apart...
@peterdoran12815 жыл бұрын
David Barker take it out of neutral 😁 ...if it is not working and its not in neutral ...then you more than have something worn out internally components ..once you take the cover off look for metal shavings amd go from there
