Thanks for another great podcast. I think the white dress you made is gorgeous. I'm about to cast some summer knit on...not sure which, but either Hahn, Roadtripper Tee, or Salty Air Tee. Even though I find I don't really wear my knits in summer, I still enjoy knitting these items for spring/fall. Best wishes for a great summer and happy knitting and sewing ☺

Thank you! I also rarely wear my summer knits when it’s very warm but they do get some wear in the spring and fall :)

The McCall's dress looks so lovely on you, a perfect fit. and while knitting up your socks I was able to try them on as I was going so that's kind of how I determined where to do the heel.

I really love your socks! I've been planning to knit Fiorellini socks this summer, but I might cast on the Granina socks first. I haven't crochet for ages so I am curious how it will go. 😀 Also, thanks for showing the quilted project bag. Sewing a quilted bag has also been in my plans, I even have a fabric for it, but was hesitating. But now I found Mipi has a sewing pattern that I will probably buy to ease the sewing! And third, I love your block printed dress! Could you please share the name of the pattern, even though it's not perfect? 😇

@inherskein
@inherskein Ай бұрын
Hello! I found the first few by reaching out to designers directly and asking if they were looking for a tech editor :) it’s quite hit and miss since a lot of them already have an editor or don’t want to hire one, but I guess it doesn’t hurt to put yourself out there!

Design away! I can scroll through Ravelry and not find a single pattern that calls to me. Some designers that are very talented and popular have patterns I can even stand to look at, they have their audience though...... and so will you!!!!

You are right! The blanker is stunning and sooooo crochet so accuratelly. The guest bed is a very good idea. As an idea can also be to hang it on then wall, but in this case the Wall should have a dark color. Your Designs are simplu gourgeous❤

@jennaforesti 2 ай бұрын
I would be very cautious about hanging the crochet bedspread because the weight of the fabric will likely distort the piece. It is intended for a bed, most likely, and the weight supported on a bed will not distort the piece, except possibly where it hangs off the sides. Another possible use might be to fold it and display it on top of a sideboard, dresser, or similar piece of furniture. However, if you go this route, be careful to support the folds in the fabric to avoid permanent creases.

Your granina socks a very cute. I love crochet heirloom piece! The easiest choice would be bedspread but I would not trust my cats to not knead on it. I have a beautiful crochet tablecloth that my grandmother made and I sometimes use it but only with a clear plastic tablecloth over it. You can get them square or round in various sizes but yours looks pretty big. Curtains would be dangerous. I made a small fillet crochet curtain and the sun damage deteriorated the yarn. I couldn’t even tell until it just broke apart!

I think that the crochet piece was maybe a table cloth rather than a blanket? My Aunty made me a smaller square crochet centre piece table cloth so that’s why I thought yours is perhaps a table cloth.

Could the granny square socks be reversed to be cuff-down? I really like the look of them and would love to knit a pair once the pattern is released, but I can´t knit toe-up socks. Also, are they knit and crochet with fingering weight yarn?
@inherskein

Absolutely! I think I will talk about this in a future episode, probably when the pattern is released later! And yes it’s made for fingering weight yarn :)

Your white top is beautiful. I hope you will have time to finish the pattern for it. And the crochet heirloom piece is astonishing. I actually felt like most of what I knit (even in fingering or lace weight) looks so coarse compared to such painstaking work. It would be a beautiful bedspread (or maybe a tablecloth on a VERY large dining table?). Thanks for your episode and happy spring.

This was also an option I thought about, but Granina ended up winning because it’s a mix between two words and reminded me of the mix between techniques used (crochet and knitting) 😊

I love your podcasts and all your designs, thanks for another lovely episode. That crochet bedspread is jaw droppingly beautiful, I completely agree that cutting into it would be a terrible shame. Regarding the crocheted bedspread, you could first have it on the guest bed. Once you tire of it or wish to change your decor, you could line it with a sheet of a different color and make it a curtain. When you line it, you only need to attach the top portion, not the whole thing; each piece will hang freely. When you change your decor, you could change the color of the sheet and still enjoy the crochet. You are very fortunate to have that.

Here in the US, I find those bedcovers at thrift stores, for a few dollars all the time. People don't appreciate them as they should. I use them as tablecloths for dinner parties, I also have one over a clear shower curtain and it looks beautiful. or as someone else mentioned on the back of a sofa.

I‘m not a big sock-knitter, but your socks with granny squares are adorable! Perhaps you know the podcast „Finnish Knitting Stories“ - Jana knitted socks with granny squares and i‘m sure she will love yours as well as Sarah from the podcast „It Is A Sarah“. I highly recommend their podcasts and with some good luck your beautiful design(s) will seen by many people, if you send them your pattern 😉! Thank you for your lovely episode ❤

That is the most beautiful crocheted piece I have ever seen. It truly is a work of art… as a full bed cover or draped at the end of a bed or over the back of a sofa it’s gorgeous. I have never knit socks but as a crocheter first you inspired me to make your granny square sock pattern. Great Podcast😊

I've just realised that I chose the same intro song for my own knitting podcast! I swear I didn't know you use that one. 😀 I love your approach to socks patterns! I find the anatomical toe very interesting, I think my husband would really benefit from such construction. And the Granina socks? The construction is even more interesting! I was thinking of applying for the test knitting, but the deadline is too soon for me, as I have an upcoming finals of my Master's and just a day after, I have an entrance exams for PhD. So hopefully I will get to it after it's published! However, Fiorellini Socks are still in my queue. 🤫

Beautiful sock patterns. The bedspread is amazing! I would use it as a topper for your bed in the guest room. This way you can see and admire it. A tablecloth would be another possibility, but I would worry about stains and tears. Cleaning it would wear out the delicate crochet.
