She stopped dead after the punch front on her double pass. That jammed landing, and re-creating the momentum like she had to must have just killed her sore ankle.

Also, the move he does at :27 (back-extension into triple handstand pirouette) - I did that in my high school gymnastics routine. (I'm female.) I also did similar strength moves as the one that follow his handstand. None of the other female gymnasts could get the right timing or strength to do either one.

He made it look so easy! And this was before the spring-loaded floors they have now.

People have said this routine was scored low due to lack of difficulty but it's basically the same routine she did at worlds the year before and that got a 9.80. The only change was the dismount, in Indy she did a full pirouette into a tucked double back. If this routine as scored in the 9.7-9.8 range, she would have finished ahead of Wendy Bruce and maybe been at the selection camp.

Wow, lol, remember the bars were closer, to where you could do "bar beats" (bump against and wrapping legs, but not letting go of the top bar)? Now, the bars are SO far apart from eachother, you might as well pack a snack just getting to the other bar! 😬 They just look ridic now, honestly. Is it a sport equipment? Or Cirque De Soleil! 🤣

I get why Kim was upset for not even being taken as an alternate.. she beat Wendy Bruce not once but twice at both US Championships and the Olympic Trials.. did she have major mistakes at the subsequent trial in Orlando then? I get choosing a team based on scoring potential but Wendy hadn’t really shown she could hit that year. Luckily it worked out in Barcelona for Wendy in terms of her hitting her routines as best she could to her ability (beam for her was always shaky) but USAG should’ve just taken the everyone including Kim K at least as alternate to the training camp in France. Campi had to withdraw and the US left themselves with no one else when they could’ve have others just in case until the start of the competition.. that was strategically stupid

It’s said she got voted off the team because she didn’t have that petite, pixie look they liked for gymnasts. She had boobs, a butt, and hips. She looked too womanly and the coaches couldn’t stand that.
