Ricky in his prime... 2002 and the 80s riders in their prime... 80s racers only chance would be to Ricky out at the whole shot... unless they injured him they would have never been able to touch Ricky
@MathewVsSportsMediaandGames12 күн бұрын
That seems like a safe presumption on how to beat Ricky, except as RJ said, "He finds time here and there." The crazy thing about this perfect season is that something in the back of my mind told me RC was going to do something that nobody would even DREAM of, and look what he did not once, but TWICE (THREE times if you count 2005)!
@40beretta113 күн бұрын
Ricky had a rough start to the SX season because Honda wasn't listening to him and his mechanic... eventually his mechanic and Dad got his bike set up right... I still don't think he ever raced a Honda motor... they proved a well tuned and ported engine is faster than the 4 stroke. Ricky didn't just beat other riders he beat the track
@MathewVsSportsMediaandGames13 күн бұрын
Honda not listening to him and Chad Watts early in Supercross is news to me. I had a feeling something was off with Ricky at Anaheim 1 because he wasn't riding the same way he did on that Kawi. I suppose RC wearing red instead of orange in the first round was only the tip of the iceberg in a sense.

Ome of the cool things about the A Bug's Life VHS is that when it was released on home video in 1999, there were 5 characters that had their own cover, Flik, Francis, Dot, Heimlich, and Hopper. You got the Dot cover. It's just one of those details that they didn't have to do but it was unique regardless. Kinda a shame that we didn't get other movies where certain characters got their own cover.

James Stewart being on that 250 against 37 other 450s was a recipe for disaster, but one wonders if Kawasaki's 450 was really available, or if they just thought James would do the same thing in the 250cc class like he did in the 125cc class on that KX125.

@MathewVsSportsMediaandGames25 күн бұрын
@@williambowman834 That may be, but at the same time, it can't be denied that Chad Reed was RC and JS's biggest competition with how consistent he was. RC has even said that he lost sleep over Chad Reed, and while Stewart did have Reed covered for a time, JS going SX-only at the prime of his career did way more harm for him than good.
@williambowman83425 күн бұрын
@MathewVsSportsMediaandGames I totally agree he was their biggest competition and I loved watching him. But at the same time he never did beat them out right for a championship. He got close to beating them but still finished 2nd. Probably his best season was his 250 rookie season.
@MathewVsSportsMediaandGames25 күн бұрын
@@williambowman834 That's the unfortunate part that he never beat them, but at the same time, you can factor in other circumstances like a faulty '07 Yamaha, and one lousy 7th at Seattle '09. 2011 was the best example of Reed beating Stewart (despite it was not for a title) because Reed saved his career while Stewart showed his true colors with his dislike for that backwards-framed Yamaha 450.

The Deegan crash had zero to do with the flagger. Deegan was one second from hitting the table top jump when the lapped rider was wrecking. The flagger had no time to wave a flag as Deegan was hitting the take off of the jump. Total racing accident.
@MathewVsSportsMediaandGames25 күн бұрын
While the Peacock coverage did not even get one second of Deegan's crash, one can presume exactly what I'd said myself in this video. Some other flaggers before the crash site could certainly have waved some flags or given the heads-up to the other riders like how some did back when Duke Finch was AMA Manager.

Time flies, I remember this like it was yesterday. That crash was essentially the beginning of the end of Pastrana's racing career. He hit his head so hard, honestly it was nuts that they let him keep going, but I guess concussions weren't taken as seriously back then.
@MathewVsSportsMediaandGamesАй бұрын
Concussions were certainly not taken seriously at this time; if they did, Travis would still have a racing career. I do believe that as a racer, Travis Pastrana was a disgrace to the sport because he even said himself, "Racing has been my dream since I was 4 years old." After this race, I thought it wasn't long before Pastrana would exit the season, but after seeing that he participated in the X Games Freestyle, I'd thought to myself, "Is he injured or what???"
