Thank you! Thank you! I am in a lace knitting class and just couldn't get the hang of the pi shawl cast-on. Your video was so clear and your magic loop hints were invaluable...I was able to knit the swatch for class. Don't tell the instructor--she's also a friend!!😃😃

I've been knitting for a while but was afraid of trying magic loop because everyone makes is seem difficult. Your explanation is very straightforward and easy to get. Thank you!

Thank you so much for a wonderful tutorial. I think I only had to undo my start about 20 times - which is a very low number for me. I will definitely return for other tutorials about other stitches !

I just saw the Stephen West video of weaving in ends - "weavin' Stephen" on KZfaq. He only crosses the yarn on top. Does this make a difference?

How can I ever thankyou!! Ive been hoping to find a new way to purl. My regular purling in continental was always to loose. And no matter what I did it never got better. This is so much easier and makes a huge diffrence.

If I could click like a hundred times on your video, I would. THANK YOU!!! You've answered my questions after a day of frustration. I have always heard the needles referred to as top/bottom or front/back when working magic loop. When you said to just look where your yarn is coming from and use that needle, ***LIGHT BULB***, it made complete sense. :) Clear instructions, pleasant voice. :D Thank you!!!

I forget where I learned this, but using this technique, I can purl faster than I can knit!! It takes a bit of practice, but the speed you pick up is worth it. Thank you for demonstrating it and helping out Continental purl's bad rep. ;-)

Bought your amazing book "Knit in new directions" and was wondering, where have you been all my knitting life? Wanted to thank you for all the tips and tricks you share with the readers/knitters. And now after I found your videos on youtube a special thank for them all and especially for the advice to use a marker when wrap and turn, it makes the whole thing so much easier. I wish you all the best and success in your knitting world:)

Why don't you make norwegian purl? In norwegian way yarn is always behind your work.

I found your video again. I've switched to bamboo needles as they work better for my hands as the wood has a bit of "give" to it. I use this purl and it is fewer times that I have the occasional stitch that didn't want to stay where I wanted it and the tension is great. I agree with Ken Bates, would have been good to learn this from the getgo but then you'd really not appreciate it like I do now. Wonderful.

Thank you! I have been knitting for just over a year, and never has a purl stitch felt right to me. I watched this a couple times, and it was just like turning on a light switch. This is so much easier. I'm off! Purling away on a blanket for my family room, and you just made the whole project so much more enjoyable. This is so comfortable for lefties to do. Feels like how I should have been purling all along. Thanks again.

I agree, it is a lot more efficient. I hold my yarn in my left hand differently, more Eastern European. So my yarn I pull it from across my index finger and the speed and tension holds the yarn on the needle. It is the same hand movement of how I use my crochet hook. It is similar to the Norwegian purl, except that I am leaving the yarn in front and it make a stitch of equal tension to my knit stitches. Thank you for your wonderful video.
