Wish one Thule video showed some standard luggage items inside. Would love to know how many carry-on or full sized suitcases fit.

The most surprising thing about this video, is that you think all apartments and malls use parking garages rather than parking lots. I guess you have only ever lived in very densely populated areas? I grew up in a suburb of NYC, and have lived in the Boston area suburbs for almost 50 years. Except in the city proper, most of the apartments and malls I've frequented, had parking lots with clearance the height of electrical wires on telephone poles. Admittedly, work and play both took me into the city proper, where parking garages without infinite clearance, are a thing.

Trade that FJ in for a truck and put it over the bed. It'd solve a lot of your issues. I have a cheap tp style hot tent from Amazon to use to mark my site. Truck bed = massive storage.

Boo Hoo this young generation all ways find something to cry about. I for one would not pay for this, so what is it, advice not to buy, or you just want someone shoulder to cry on. Get a life.

Thule is much easier and quicker to mount. Also Thule are premium boxes and look way better.

Exactly! All of these reason are why I got rid of my RTT. It's just me, so I changed the inside around and now I sleep in the vehicle.

This might seem obvious to roof top tent campers but do you leave the ladder in place while sleepiing? If not, where do you put the ladder?

Can the ladder be replaced with a telescoping one? I’m thinking of buying one and replace it with my tent’s sliding ladder!

Stupid question perhaps, but why not put the back seat down, throw in a futon mattress (that should even out any lumps) and buy a far cheaper roof trunk if you have to take everything but the kitchen sink out on camping trips? Sleeping in the back, there's no chance to roll over and fall from the top of the car all tangled up in a tent, no having to climb ladders in the middle of the night to use a restroom, no having to say no to camping with big friends and it's is far more secure from animals and most humans. In comparison to a regular tent, this idea is just plain nuts, some whacked out entrepreneur and designer gone wild, supported by even sillier consumers who can't simply camp out in the woods without making a big show and production of the entire ordeal. One can learn to appreciate all nature has to offer as well all the conveniences in regular life by camping, but this idea of camping on a roof is whacked. If you are too scared to sleep out on the ground stay home.

Just a few "plus" points for softshell roof top tents 😊 I'm a 70+ year old solo female traveller, measuring 5ft 4in with a softshell RTT on an FJ Cruiser. It takes me (alone) 4 minutes to have my RTT open and ready to sleep in and +/- 8 minutes to close it up and be ready to set off. I wouldn't swop it for the world - it creates no condensation (a problem with hardshell tents), it's light (45 Kgs), has not significantly changed fuel consumption and is MUCH warmer during winter than a hardshell. To keep my camping spot? Easy - I leave my table, chair and a couple of other bits & pieces.... 😊‼️👍🏻🌺 P.S. Yes, the cover does get a little stiff in colder temperatures - so, solution, I climb up on top of the roof and close the cover from "top down" 😉
