My only real problem (with the OEM Makita version of this) is that the clutch is electronic. They give torque settings in the manual for each of the clutches' positions but it, like almost all e-clutches, is not consistent. At least not enough to strip or damage things (a point you made in terms of just too much power). I'm used to lugging around a 10 lb impact wrench at work, so this feels like a feather all day working on the various machines I run if they need service. Frankly, I would want one just for the bragging rights. Tamiya has always been nuts.
@VintageRcGarage
@VintageRcGarage 8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the details about the clutch. I tend to only use hand tightening for building so I can feel the tension. Tamiya tends to make parts with varying tension for a standard screw. The suspension arms seem to be the softest. I need to experiment more with the pistol grip setup since it changes the balance point.

I always use Tamiya TS-13 for clear coats but if you aren’t using Tamiya paints under it I would just stick to the clear coat brand that matches the base. If can mix some brands but if you want to try it you should first test well on something less important.

They did a nice job with the car, but I think the greatest (and probably only) disappointment is the decal sheet. Looks like no liscensed decals, so as far as I can tell, just a bunch of semi-lookalike, made up company names. The original sponsor decals give it a much more authentic feel, while the new sheet makes it look more toylike. It's a shame, really. You said the most noticeable to you was the KC Daylighter lamp covers, which are very noticeable on the box, but on the sheet and on the car, the most notoceable to me is the giant NGK spark plug logo on the hood. The new Tamiya Racing logo is nowhere near as attractive. I am sure they did it to save from paying liscensing fees, but I really wish they had kept at least a few of them. I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for the kit to have them. Anyway, thanks for the video. It was very well done. Have a good one.

Yeh unfortunately Tamiya stopped using real logos a long time ago. Any re-re you see will not have the same original logo decals. Thanks for watching.

@variator7466
@variator7466 Жыл бұрын
@@VintageRcGarage Thank you for replying! I remember these buggys from the catalogs but I was to to young to own any of them. I did some research; Land Jump was Kyoshos first 1:8 4WD offroad, and was released 1980. It had a similar tube body as the Vanning but the old style suspension. Vanning was released in 1986. 1987 came another version with the same (?) chassis, called Presto which had a polycarbonate body. 1987 also saw the release of Burns. Yuichi Kanaisgot got involved with the Turbo Burns in 1989 which had some improvements (like a wing for example) and in 1991 Kanai developed the Inferno (MP1) with Kyosho Team. This was a real game changer and won everything following years. My buddy got the Inferno and I gotta say all the dudes in the neighbourhood was pretty jealous. I still had my Stinger MK2 and it was a toy in comparison to the Inferno. Later I got the Turbo Inferno and me and my buddy started racing seriously :)
