I first heard them in ‘67 while going to school in Madrid, Spain. I was a sophomore in HS at the Torreón Air Force Base, living in the dorm. I was staying the weekend at a friends apt in Madrid, his parents weren’t home. When I was introduced to Them and the Kinks. Hve loved both bands since. The ‘early 60’s Music out of Brit Isles was nothing short of spell binding.

Keith’s solo was lost because his spaz move into the chorus knocked the mic over. Mick stood it back up mid song. We do get treated to Brian Jones playing that driving rhythm guitar, something missed in today’s Stones shows.

I was at Essex University at the start of the 1990s. There was a dodgy pub in Colchester town centre that played a wobbly vinyl copy of this. The only good memory I have of that time.

It was the New Musical Express Poll Winners Concert in April 16th 1965 at the Empire Pool Wembley, a Friday night. So exciting those years especially 1963-1966 when the audiences screamed at any act that was on stage! Shear Magic.

Saw them Halloween, 1970 at the Fillmore West. along with Elton John and others...what a show that was, the Kinks played "Lola". and it was the first time I ever heard that?! I had an 8-track tape of the best of the Kinks, in my Dodge and I was a real fan!! I still have that player, it was made by Motorola, but the tapes have all disappeared!!

How in the world did that crowd stay seated during this performance? I realize it was a different era - but good grief, you had to get down with Eric up there dancing!! Having concerts in locations with no seats was the best thing their ever did!

I love the cameramen of this era. Don't know anything about what they are filming. Guitar solo? Time to get close ups of drum and bass player. Makes sense huh.

The camera person screwed up royally when they didn't show Dave Davies' guitar riff. I was 16 in '65 and believe me, THE KINKS WERE THE BOMB!!!! The girls absolutely loved The Beatles, but we guys couldn't get enough of The Kinks! MAN DID THEY ROCK!!!
@mikejones-go8vzАй бұрын
Isn’t it annoying when this happens, I doubt the cameraman knew which guy was the guitarist!
@felixmadison5736Ай бұрын
@@mikejones-go8vz Very annoying, especially since Dave's riff is the best part of the song.

I was 15 when I saw the Spencer Davis Group in late 1967 in White Pigeon, Michigan (sans Stevie). There were about a half a dozen people in the audience with a blizzard outside. Stevie's replacement was a guitarist named Ray. I was like 3 feet in front of Ray when they lit into there first number, "Dust My Broom." Talk about blown away! Winwood's leaving was tragic but the band's recovery was miraculous. Unfortunately, they never got the recognition they deserved. Thank you Spencer for all the hard work. RIP

Saw Them at the Richland Roller Rink, in Washington State, in summer of 1966. Van was wasted and did the whole show with his eyes closed. He wore a suit that looked like it was made from a shower curtain. Band played quiet and intimate and ... totally awesome. Been a fan for 58 years.
