I ended up buying a refurb unit from Amazon and then purchased the 3 year warranty, I hope I did not throw that money away. I got my unit prior to summer so it was about 270 dollars for a12k unit. We are getting into the thick of it 3 weeks of 105 degrees with about 33% humidity, I do have central air, but the light bill is very expensive up to 73 cents a KWH.

I have a magnet and a piece of micro fiber, I cut the micro fiber like a kite tail, I stick the micro fiber very gently in the back of the unit, it draws most of the water out but defiantly not all of it.

Considering getting one of these but do you recommend using these if there is no awning over it? Specifically concerned about thunderstorms when it rains sideways into the unit. Recently had a different unit have water stuck in the front and develop mold as a result of a storm.

The only thing with using a vacuum to suck the mold out is that now, the hoses and vacuum canister is now contiminated with mold spores that will be in the air that it blows out...

In the process of installing mine right now. Fairly easy installation, but the worst user/installation manual I've ever seen. Original manual was in metric, but was able to get a pdf from sales rep. About all the manual is good for are measurements. Thanks for the safety cutoff demo and the alternate hydraulic port.

I can't think of another way to ease the process....if applicable. Build dollies for your implements. I have most of my implements on dollies. I back the tractor up, wheel dolly over and align it over lower pins with the QH. Thereafter its a simple task to lift and attach the top link. So simple. DIYMYWAY has a video on it. Thanks for the tip on sizing the holes and using pins on the QH.

This generator HAS vents in the bottom of the air box towards the back! NO need to drill holes in the cover. Deleting the charcoal canister and replacing the crappy factory spark plug really help it run better!

The very latest midea's now have a 3/4" drain plug on the right rear of the unit.. they dont say to remove it when installing but , thats the first thing I did when installing it because of the mildew reports... pulled that plug out so it could drain and made sure it was tilted like urs, downward so water could drain..

I wonder if drilling the holes where you did reduces the efficiency of the unit a bit. The slinger fan is supposed to have some water to sling onto the coils, and having them down so low could prevent enough of that happening. Judging by what you said early on in the video, there was too much, but I would now worry if there was too little.

These units NEED to have water as part of the cooling and efficiency. Do not drill a hole.

Anyone taking the fan out completely to clean it and/or do a motor replacement, and wondering how to get up on the underside of the blades, I used two different tools. One was a small diameter faucet brush I got at a local hardware store, it works on a lot of the gaps but some of them are just too tight. You can also use the GUM Proxabrush go-between dental brushes. They are very small, however you will likely have to make at least two passes on every blade because of this. For replacement bearing grease, I'll be using Super Lube synthetic multi-purpose grease when I re-assemble it. I've done all the modifications in this video except I will probably leave the fan grill in, haven't decided yet. It's easy enough to rip out later anyway. Hoping to get better results this time. My current unit I took apart before, but couldn't get under the blades and waterpik wasn't really working well for me, and still got horrible smell despite cleaning everything else while disassembled. So hoping this time works better, with a different unit I had to take apart to replace a noisy motor on anyway.

just an FYI, 10-10-10 or 20-20-20 is not balanced fertilizer. 20% phosphorous is about 18 % more than plants normally need. 10-2-7 or something like that would be "balanced".

I was a bit worried about getting the 10,000 unit as I do not have a dedicated circuit for it. But I have a very old 8600 unit that draws 900+ watts when the compressor kicks in hard. Media says the unit draws 870 “cooling watts” without saying what they mean by that. And that sure seems more than you are pulling with the 12,000 unit. Thing is, my room is under 300 square feet BUT I live on the penthouse level and have only a single layer of bricks and have 3 sides of the room exposed to the outside… and it can really cook up here.

I've heard that the water spraying back on the coils helps with the efficiency but it also creates the problems people have. How much efficiency is lost on the unit after making this change? It looks like you have a wattage meter hooked up so I'm assuming you are tracking that?

piston rings rotate in the grooves it is possible for them at some stage to line up, especially with a damaged bore such as yours ,the groove in the bore probably ccaused thier location
