A couple things about FGL’s personal life: she and Lee had three children, two of whom outlived her, and they were divorced largely because he was from the American south and very traditional (aka racist as hell, his father had been a Confederate general during the American civil war) whole Frances was very liberal-minded and progressive. He also resented that she had so much more money than he did. Although I do think they loved each other (they briefly reconciled after their initial separation, during which their youngest child was conceived), they simply found it too difficult to live together. He eventually remarried, but she chose to stay single after the divorce. Also, her dad wasn’t against women being educated, he did pay the best private tutors in Chicago to teach his daughter and Frances’s mother had been a school teacher herself. It was simply that Gilded Age high society looked down on women who went on for higher degrees, and the only school Frances ever wanted to attend was Harvard, and Harvard did not take on women as students until 1946, very near the end of her life.

Thanks for sharing your progress. It’s interesting to see your work develop. I don’t think I’ll ever tackle a full coverage myself, so I’m enjoying one vicariously through you. You do well to get so much done with your busy schedule! I’m all booked too for StitchNorth 2025, 1st weekend!

Someone posted her husband’s pvc pipe lap stand. I lost the directions….😢thank you so much for this. Now all I have to figure out is how to cut the pipe. Hopefully you will address this in the video…. The 45 degree pieces are called elbows.

Hi Pam - I’ve discovered you by searching for any Stitch North floss tubes - I enjoyed your floss tube so much that now I’m a subscriber! Your work is beautiful! You have so much patience to do such detailed work! Just a friendly note regarding the thread bed from Gamma’s Treasures. It was in the swag bag for both Stitch North weekends. I was at the second weekend. It’s amazing to me as a sewer that she made 450 of these thread beds!!! Kudos and a big thank you to Dawn Myers of Gamma’s Treasures.

Thanks for watching ❤ and thanks for reminding me the thread bed was in the swag bag. Sometimes you receive so many lovely things at retreats and by the time you're home it's hard to remember where they all came from.

So fun to see your Stitch North video and your beautiful projects - I especially love "Christmas Carol" so I am happy to hear you are working on it for Maynia and look forward to the weekly video post! I adore your Pandemic piece and loved seeing it in person! It was so nice to meet you in person at Stitch North and I was very impressed by your packing and organizational skills! Oh no…I missed meeting you at Stitch North week 1 but I know I did not get to all 30 tables and I was at table 1 with the Forest City Stitcher. I am so glad to have found you. I am doing the Canadian flag too…I had a square on the right that pattern keeper said was 600 stitches. Your work is fabulous…I don’t know why your channel has not come to my feed before. I will check former videos.

I’ve added a full issue of Just CrossStitch magazine to pattern keeper. I scrolled through the magazine and chose just the chart I wanted to stitch. It saw only the one page chart and I was able to use pattern keeper. Hope you are able to make it work.

It is so not fun to be ill, especially when it leaves you too wiped out to even stitch. Glad you are feeling better. I know what you mean about having WIPs hidden away and not seeing them again for a year. This is my year of "finishing up those older ones." In many cases, a few days to a week of dedicated stitching really makes a difference! Looking forward to the next Coffee, Craft & Crime episode.

Great to see you back and over pneumonia. Love your stitching projects all coming together fabulous work. Not into tent stitch myself although it's used for tapestry but with stitching with wool it looks great for that.

I couldn’t believe when you said Four Seasons. I restarted this last Jan (23). I worked monogamously for about 3 months and then set it aside. Today I decided to get it back out to continue. I’m at about 38.20% 2x1 tent stitch (😂) on 25 ct. And of all days to be working on that and watching you! You have a great restart! Great video too!!

Good tutorial. I just wish you would of added using it at your normal, no one watching pace. So that we could see how much more time using this tool would take vs not using one.

Thank you. I've been using it so long it doesn't really slow me down at all. Anyone starting out is going to find it slower at first. Just the same as people who railroad their stitches. Starting out with any new technique is slower at first.
