I’m planning on hitting Hersheypark for the first time next year. Too bad you weren’t taken with SkyRush. I can see how maybe it has been overhyped. Sounds like Stormrunner is a temperamental ride that is not super reliable. Kind of like other launched Intamins. The coaster I look forward to riding most there is SkyRush, but even if I’m let down like you were, I know there are many other great coasters there, like Wildcat’s Revenge and Candymonium.

I played this as a kid in Seaside, Oregon over 35 years ago. Every time my family went on vacation, we would spend hours playing this. I haven't seen it for years.

One thing I noticed about one train ops: it isn't always that the park thinks they only need one train. Sometimes they just only have one train ready by the start of the season. Goliath at SFOG didn't have two trains running until late May-ish, but you could see the second train parked in the garage in pieces. Similarly, Batman the Ride and Great American Scream Machine were both running two trains even though they didn't have a line. It seems like some of these parks (Six Flags especially) just don't finish their off season maintenance and get everything up to full capacity until summer.

I think some of the issue is that Six Flags has made people like me cynical with their past decisions that have for better or worse colored my impressions of current decisions. I definitely agree that some of it is out of their hands but I’m sure some of this is motivated by cost savings. It’s hard to truly know.

@impracticallychristopher You're most likely right. There are plenty of rides that running a second train wouldn't require more staff, but they never get a second train until the line gets way too long. In some cases like that, it certainly seems to be a conscious choice.

Man, what I wouldn't give to visit northern California again. I remember back in 1946 when I was a teenager me and Vincent Duperelli used to go to the peak and try to pick up the penguins. I mean girls ha-ha, not penguins.

It took me almost a week to recover from our 29 ride marathon. Next time we do a marathon I’m gonna get up half way and walk around. Sitting for 2 1/2 hours straight was rough. I can’t imagine the numbers you and the others have done😮

I wish I could have been there, but work intruded. I was able to get 20 rides in yesterday after already riding everything at Six Flags. It even moved up in my rankings to number 5 overall, displacing Diamondback at Kings Island.

I’m guessing the cold is what gave me a headache because we ride all kinds of coasters and amusement park rides and I never get headaches from them..?? This was our first marathon though. Do you know the name of the other guy that was filming? He got several shots from the ground. My daughter loved seeing herself on your video, thanks for posting.

So you remember how fanny packs used to be "lame?" Well Gen-Z are bringing them back, but wearing them over the chest and calling them cross bags or something like that. Also, I'm glad you had a good time! Hopefully they do something else like this some day.

Velocicoaster's rattle could honestly just be a wheel issue. I imagine Universal's coasters probably go through a lot of wheels, and they could just be waiting on some time to put new wheels on.

Yeah I think it’s the wheels for sure most rides are smooth as butter, but I get one every now and then with a rattle.
