Road story. This man owned over 10 acres of land that abutted a State Forrest. Over the years first, his grandfather & then his father had blazed hiking trails through the property. Some were usable for cross country skiing. At the back of his property, across a river, a HOA development went up. Access from the HMO subdivision required a long drive to reach major roads & the nearest town. Then the owner experienced a shock. There was a proposal to build a bridge across the River & then build a road across his property to reach a major road. The man was aghast. He found allies. The bridge would have been very costly just to service the needs of less than a 100 homes.. Peace restored for a time. Then the HOA paid for a sturdy footbridge across the River. All of a sudden the man’s trails were being used by ATV’s, people using trail bikes & it some cleared spaces for camping. There was considerable mess being left behind. The man sued as the footbridge crossing was on his property. The HOA was convinced the footbridge was their special entrance to the State Forrest. It went to court & the man won. The footbridge had to be removed. The actual entrance to the State Forrest was 10 miles away. With the footbridge it was only about a half mile to enter the Man’s property.

Nice story but some photographs would have made it more believable. Should have had your phone out and recording as you approached them at the bridge.

Mulberry story: I never knew that about Mulberry trees but it explains why my parents always planted fruitless Mulberry trees. We had a couple in every yard we ever had.
