I think I was at Nant Peris when those two climbers were brought down safely. If it wasn't them, then it was another two people. I have the ultimate respect for what you Coastguard Air Assistance rescuers do for us. Thank- you.

Why did the helicopter come all the way from St Athan (Cardiff) instead of RAF Valley on Anglesey?
@ramseyboater
@ramseyboater 5 ай бұрын
UK ARCC coordinate the UK’s rescue air assets - they would have tasked the nearest available aircraft. Quite possibly Rescue 936 (Caernarfon aircraft) was either tasked elsewhere or otherwise not available so R187 from St Athan would have been used. RAF Valley hasn’t been a SAR base for some years since HM Coastguard took over all UK civil air rescue.

According to my dad, when we were in great Yarmouth, the coast guard were constantly patroling and saving people, and were even helping people when the coast front started flooding.

I walk around there often and it never ceases to amaze me how stupid people are. I’ve seen people taking selfies right at the cliff edge, untrained dogs running off lead, people having picnics at the bottom of the cliffs… all despite there being loads of warning signs around. I’ve given up trying to warn them.

There pretty useless without one, so why are they not standard? In a situation that requires the use of a life jacket you really don’t need anymore additional problems to be dealing with.

Whilst I applaud this as an extra bit of security for boat users, this should in no way replace good sense, training and kit onboard. Mobile phones dont work much past 8nm offshore and around the coast there are multiple blind spots once you get near cliffs etc. With our lack of compulsory training in the UK I feel this sends a signal that you dont need to have any proper kit on your boats and just take your Mobile phone

Great comment section here loads of fkn know it all's arguing over the rules of the sea in a KZfaq pissing contest over who has the most experience to say who was in the right or wrong, the fact of the matter to me is it was a Scottish fishing boat out of Peterhead so they were either drunk, gouging off heroin, or just having a giggle
