What do you do with accounts that were initially included in a bankruptcy? Once I got the bk removed they changed it to charge off but how can they do this when it was it was initially. Included in the bk ? Since the bk got deleted

The account was charged off by Original creditor in Feb 2022. It was sold/transferred to 3rd party with whom I “settled for less” with in April 2023. The Original creditor sent me a 1099-C for the remaining debt for the year 2023. I was confused and filed the 1099-C with my taxes for 2023. Is this illegal? From my understating, they shouldn’t have sent a 1099-C since the debt was settled? The original creditor has updated payment history to reflect a charge off status for April 2023. But the account originally went into a charge off status in Feb 2022. Any advice? I believe I have other factual disputes but I’m wondering if this is one? Thank you for your videos! I’m learning a lot!
