Just picked up one of these bad boys - thanks for putting together this amazing overview! I'm shooting on a C70 and can't for the life of me work out how to customize the two buttons on the lens, only the control ring. Any ideas? I've updated my C70 to the latest firmware, wondering if it's only possible to do this on RF stills cameras? Any help hugely appreciated! :)

Hey, 'Breaking Bad' made a career out of using the shaking handheld shots though.... but it's only a style when you want it (and it's been used quite a lot; years from now we'll have to see how that ubiquitous shaky HH cinematography holds up in future viewers' eyes and minds)....

Update: after watching more videos on the c400 I found out the screen has a lot different places you can mount it. I’ve seen it mounted on the camera without the handle I’ve seen it mounted with the handle I even seen it mounted on the camera while on a gimbal and mounted off the camera and on the side of the gimbal. That changes a lot for me. The auto focus and lowlight is also improved. And it’s lighter than what it looks like.

I purchased a C 70 and it was excellent, however I did return it based on the fact that the crop sensor was not giving me the look that I wanted. This should do the trick then I look forward to it’s availability

Exciting camera. Every one of us has different needs and check lists according of our line of work. Price of the camera is good enough for the right user I think. For me, it will depend of the field test other people do, specially in the dynamic range field since my work don’t always let me light a scene. Going full frame it’s always a benefit and that PL mount converter? Very cool. If this was a DGO sensor all across frame rates it would be a pre order for me I think.

The focal length on the super 35 sensor with my RF glass is the reason I ran out to get the speed booster. Luckily I found a cinematographer in the Boston area who had one that he never used.

Great review! One thing - I've always thought Goldilocks got way too much credit for stuff being "just right". Surely we should be referencing Baby Bear? It always his stuff not Goldie's.

Thanks! Those were ultrabounces, so one side is black and one side is white, it might look like we double neg'd from some angles but that's just because you're seeing the back of the rag.

Odd question, support aside, is your c70 course still worth it for users that have been shooting with it for several years now? I picked mine up back in mid 2021 and have used it on dozens of commerical gigs, creative projects, testomonials ect... But it's one of those things where you know what you know and there's probably some things the camera does well, especially after all the updates, that I'm leaving on the shelf. Do you think I'd still get something out of your course?
@SoundItOutFilms15 күн бұрын
Super hard for me to say… but if you’re happy with the footage you’ve been getting for the past 3 years I’d say probably not.

I agree with this reasonable review of features, and as with every camera announcement, it all comes down to your NEEDS to satisfy your clients, and how much you want to stretch for your personal WANTS as a professional creative. I have two C70s for my corporate video production work, and I love that they are identical in image and handling for both dual camera interviews and during b-roll when I use one on a gimbal and one rigged up handheld. While there are some nice-to-haves with the C400 announcement, none of the new features are game-changing enough for me or my clients to drop $8k on.
@scottievee746715 күн бұрын
Fantastic. The looks were so different but both awesome. Really well done. I think I would enjoy that Boston-Irish Rock band. It makes me nuts when shooters do BTS videos with very little of the actual job footage. This is great!! I too shoot with C70's but I did just pre-order the C400.

Don’t think so. It will be S35. C70 - S35, DR focused, compact and portable. C400 - FF, Low light, broadcast, speed read outs focused. What I would want it’s a DPAF and a second generation DGO sensor. Although DJI has solved the problem of poor AF.

When I had my RS2 Pro I have really bad jitters with my Pocket 6k Pro. I did loads of testing and here is what I did which I found helped, I replaced the DJI plate with a small rig one which eliminated the small arca Swiss one which elevates the camera a little and give less opportunity for flex. I also increase the motor stiffness of the roll axis, I found increasing it just until it starts to vibrate and then backing it off a little.

The biggest issue I've got with all cine camera's out there at the moment is being unable to record 32-bit float audio internally. For run-and-gun shooting it would be a complete game changer
@jakilahmoulien907016 күн бұрын
Just cz the GH7 does it doesn't mean all cameras need it. You can still record 32 bit float audio externally. Professionals always make sure audio or video don't clip. So it's all fine. You want to record high dynamic range audio and then edit the gain in post just cz u didn't take the time to check if it's clipping beforehand??? Work smarter.
