The front scale fitment is very neat indeed. WARCO fit this scale at the rear which is what I was planning to do. Except the read head was going to be a pain. The Y scale as has been pointed out is upside down. You have to use a jigsaw of L brackets to reach around the scale to clamp onto the read head. Luckily I have a wm14 mill with a WARCO fitted DRO as a guide. My new mill is a WM16B which is almost but not quite the same as yours.

A little late but somebody might benefit from my comment. Wusthof (and Henckels) have a very good warranty on their upper end lines. Those black (and white) plastic handles from the 1970s and up did degrade over time and as long as there's no *obvious* user error in the damage those knives are replaced by the companies through their warranty. Just be aware that the 'exact' same knife model may no longer be in stock so you might get a similar, more recent model.

Don't buy this Chinese bucket, all Nilfisk vacuum cleaners are made in China, you won't find better parts anywhere. The Makita VC2512L vacuum cleaner is the same inside as its twin brothers, but you won’t find spare parts. And there are many workshops, the same number I have come across in each Makita, where you can find everything down to the smallest detail; Nilfisk side clip is broken and nowhere to be found.

The Y axis scale is upside-down. I did the same fit up, bit with the read head at the bottom, youll get chips in the scale, even with a guard. Try again, and see if you can flip it over.👍👌🇦🇺

Did you look for a 4 axis? Or 3 + summing?with 4 ports? Thus dro will add 2 axis together for the combined quill and Z👍👌🇦🇺

Looking to do very similair rehandle to my 20 year old wusthof x 7 knifes. I plan to use Colby bolts - which doesn’t need to be peened and should allow a perfect self locking/clamping fix.

Hey, one Question. Is the Filter-cleaning mechanical (When you push the button it will bump the filter) or electrical (cleans the filter, wehn ever it needs cleaning automatically)? It would sure be nicer if when you add in the extraneous 'music' you did it at the same sound level as your voice to keep it from blaring out before one has a chance to mute it and you. Such a good fix. Not sure why they didn't use thicker pads from the beginning. This is great though. Even improves the soundstage. Personally my head isn't particularly big so I didn't find them too tight after. I used 9mm foam tubing from amazon.

Good review, you need a dust commander/cyclone and if you put a lady- stocking over the filter for the fine dust, more as extra filter lol.

Hi Caveman. I like the way you managed to fit the scales and readout without having to drill holes in your machine. I fitted a very similar one to my mill (also very similar} about 9 months ago and the video has been surprisingly successful. I think you did a much better job of explaining all your decisions and what you were doing better than I did. A couple of things caught my eye, the little red brackets on the read heads are transit brackets and should be removed once fitted. Also, I think you should take another look at your y axis scale and see if you can turn it the other way up, I don't think those lip seals will keep the swarf out for long looking up at it. I got a Chinese manual with mine, so have managed to find the English version. If you need a copy, let me know.

Do you think this would work on the XM2's as well? Just bought them and they are very uncomfortable....the earcup opening is smaller as well so my big ears won't fit in it well enough :( Wish I could fit the XM3's earcup on it....

How is ANC performance/passive isolation with this modification? Whenever I move earcups slightly away from my ear/head I can immediately hear some outside sounds due to sound leakage so I am afraid it might be worse.

You could try kiln dried Play Sand or Block Paving Sand. Available at most DIY stores. Cheap as chips. Great project. Well done 👏👏👍😀

Your steel mill stand is basically a big tuning fork. It might help to bolt a big panel of heavy wood on the back of the rear legs, to dampen vibration in the left-right plane. 🙂
