I would assume that commercial quail eggs have no males in their pens so they’re not mating. But if you’re getting your eggs from a small farm who keeps males for their own breeding stock, then perhaps some might be fertile.

Thanks for verifying this! When I saw the Albert video I was sure it was a scam. I guess it really is possible to hatch from the supermarket. Simply amazing.

I would have made it narrower with no legs on the bottom. Just have it setting on a cart so I could wheel it outside and put it down on the grass for them to enjoy life a little, hunt some bugs. Then roll it back inside at night or in bad weather.

You bought 40 eggs and only managed to hatch 3. Something seriously wrong there and those cages are damn right cruel. Obviously you haven't done your research beforehand and you're putting video's up as if you are some sort of experienced quail keeper. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!

Cool stuff! I didn't think they would hatch after going through being harvested, packaged, transport to the store and refrigerated. I wonder if the same thing can be done with one of those fertilized duck eggs that are sold at Asian markets?👍

The reality is the chicks are training the hen to accurately assess the environment before laying her clutch of eggs... and the hen is teaching her chicks how to navigate the environment their in using her experience,, together it creates a feedback loop that increases their chances of that species survival.. IE they will continue jumping off your table until you learn to put them somewhere else more safe...instinctive impulses are developed between the interactions of mother and young not learnt or taught.. Turns out birds are one of the most adaptive intelligent species on earth and their survival instincts are outstandingly sophisticated and complexed...

This is what is actually occurring. There is a feedback loop between the mother hen and her chicks. The mother hen and her chicks inherit a generic range of instinctive impulses,, she has a high numbers of young so that those instinctive impulses can be updated, as her brood experiences losses from accidents illness and being preyed on by predators she learns what extra lessons her chicks need to adopt to increase their chances of survival.. it's the reason young chicks appear to have a death wish, jumping from a high structure likely to cause injury for example ensures the hen is less likely to lay her eggs on a cliff face the next time round which increases the chances of that species survival because those lessons are inherited instinctively... Just goes to show without a proper understanding what we see as dumb might actually be pure genius.....

I'm telling you for a fact we need to rethink intelligence completely, At fifteen days old my quail chicks are displaying huge amounts of intelligence that actually surpasses that of a puppy or cat far older .. The issue that blinds us is when we perceive instinctive intelligence... instinctive intelligence is used to unify the behaviour of young in the animal kingdom. More often than not its accurate to their normal environmental conditions. yet we have removed these species from their normal environmental conditions so from our perspective watching them struggle they appear slow... 2000 years is clearly not enough time to breed out those instinctive impulses that increase their chances of survival in their natural environment...

Leave them in the incubator 24-48 until entirely dry and fluffy. Fluff aids in shock of temperature/humidity change.
