Forgot all about this game, the music brings back memories.

The game became repetitive after a while, but it was a classic nevertheless.

Wow that was impressive. Saw the NES version on an AVGN episode and he couldn't get past the first water crossing 😅. I had it for my Tandy 1000 and made it maybe halfway before giving up completely way back when

I beat the game, and I now see why you waited to get the Beam upgrades. Really nice walkthrough, and I came surprisingly close to getting the bonus ending. That last boss was a serious workout. I had to find the nearest missile refill just to defeat Queen Metroid. I was only able to bomb her stomach once before I decided to just finish her off with missiles.

Why do you put off getting the beam upgrades for so long? I'm almost halfway through this walkthrough already. I know you can get some of the beam upgrades by this point.

Ich habe es damals sehr oft gespielt, aber nie gewusst was ich da machen muss. Doch das war mir egal, ich hab´s trotzdem gern gespielt.

Well friggin' done! I LOVED this game as a kid, infact my friends and I judged a 3d poly game from then on against how much it gave the 'mercenary on targ effect' of making you feel slightly dizzy when falling like this game did, as I constantly fell out of the orbiting space station above the first city since I couldn't tell a door from inside to outside, LOL. Well played, and damn obscure. The sequel Merc3 for the Amiga I only just discovered, and it looks amazing yet it's DNA is very clearly right here.

I loved this game! The music and the jump scare when you get attacked full screen. Torturing the competition pro to perform all 8 directions in the elevator. And the first person view at that speed was simply unique for that time period and especially on a c64.

Absolute classic of the 8-bit era on both Atari and Commodore machines. (Note that Planet "Irata" is "Atari" spelt backwards.) LOVED the game, especially multiplayer but even single player the computer could be a conniving cheating bugger to play against. Especially on the advanced game with crystite. (The only way to play!) Still I would be first founder most of the time, yet to my shame I NEVER caught the Wumpus because I didn't know you could! I wondered about the dot that would appear on mountains sometimes but never thought to go click on it. Sigh. Great video!

It always freaked me out getting killed by the Giant Mosquito, since it would drain you untill you were a toothpick😂 This game had the first fatalities. Way ahead of it's time.

in bonus life level3 after cave L, to keep pressing space (pausing and unpausing) delays the spawning of our man. when all creatures passed, you can stop pausing and unpausing. then you can spawn safely.

Absolutely the best Jumpman derivative ( I dont want to say rip-off because it wasn't) that ever graced the C64. I loved this game, and got about this good at it too. Nice to see such skilled gameplay again after all this time. Grats!

This game only has two levels, but I didn't care. The smooth animation and excellent music made up for any shortcomings. Some of the best music for the system, especially so early in the life of the C64 (1985).

Even if that 1985 Activision game came to Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis in 1992 as examples, this is something different the C64 does not. LA to NY; LA to Miami; LA to Washington; Seattle to NY; Seattle to Miami; Seattle to Washington; SF to NY; SF to Miami; SF to Washington. That is nine city race courses I came up with. There are two US Tours such as Starting in Seattle and Starting in LA. That is eleven races all together. Is that too much to ask?

I used to love playing this game on the C64. The only part I didn’t like were those damn “tiki-tiki-tiki” things that came out of nowhere and took me down when I had a full load of hostages.
