Hi! Will you give me advice please. I have an little oil leak from under the timing chain cover (AJ8). Mechanic says to replace timing chain cover gasket. For this action do I need to take out the engine? And do I need to disconnect the supercharger?
@AutohausLakeNormanDenverАй бұрын
Engine can stay in the car, but I'm pretty sure Supercharger has to come off.

Hello there, if i remove the speedo meter, will it need to be reset?
@stephensmith30343 жыл бұрын
You mentioned that the timing is set at TDC but from what I remember during the development of the engines over 20 years ago it was set at 45 degrees after TDC from cylinder 1A. Cylinder 1A is at the front of the car on the right as viewed by the driver. That’s the only position that the pin can be pushed into the drive plate through the crank sensor hole. The reason for that position is to reduce the risk of valve damage during setting the timing.

Hey man. Thanks for this great video. It helped me greatly to replace mine. But first the hex screws will have to be removed, at least in my car they did. Second, after replacement my car won't start. The only difference between old and new is the instrument cluster. Is there any resetting needed after replacing the dash, or the cluster. Thanks
@adm612994 жыл бұрын
I discovered the problem. it was a defective instrument cluster I had purchased to replace mine that stopped making any sounds (seat belt and such.) when I reconnected my old cluster the car started with no problems. thanks again for a great video.

You more than likely have a suspension block that is leaking internally. You can often times send them out to have rebuilt or find an exchange service.

Hey, the timing chain and tensioner tasks are rather straight, but to access the front cover of the engine, I really had to work my a... off. Removing the Aircon compressor and the power steering pump to access the holding unit for these two devices. On the opposite side the alternator also had to be removed to access the mounting unit for the alternator - both parts are horrible to disassemble due to lack of space. Another thing to remember is the pulley / vibration damper - the one with the conic locking ring is really nasty.

@Autohaus Lake Norman What is the point of this video? You did not share the procedure for applying the HVAC Basic Settings. That would have been very helpful. I actually have a Bentley Continental GTC that is throwing an error for the V113 flap motor, Part Number 4D0820511. 00716 - Air recirculation Flap Positioning Motor (V113) 014 - Defective - Intermittent Your video would be much more valuable to Bentley Continental GT/GTC, VW Phaeton, and certain Audi A8 owners as those cars have the same Climatronic HVAC. I am sure I am not the only person who would like to know how to apply basic settings to the V113 motor.
@AutohausLakeNormanDenver7 жыл бұрын
The description in the video states that you need a diagnostic computer that can interface Bentley. There isn't a sequence of buttons you can press to make the adaptation run, its initiated from a diagnostic computer. The actual steps were not shown because anybody who has the equipment to do so, usually already knows how to run Basic Settings. However, to answer your question: 1) Connect to the vehicle 2) Go to Address 08-HVAC 3) Click "Adaptations" 4) Select Channel "01" 5) Your "stored value" will likely be a "1". Change that to "2" and the procedure will start on its own.

Nice , but doesn´t this break down all the time ??
@AutohausLakeNormanDenver7 жыл бұрын
It is a troublesome system, yes. Front & rear valve blocks fail causing erratic suspension level, pumps fail causing no suspension operation and occasionally we see accumulators go bad and lines leak. The "rodeo" in this video must be done anytime the system is opened (its the bleeding procedure) and also as part of periodic fluid replacement.

You will need to find a shop that specializes in Ferrari/Maserati. This isn't the typical OBD-II tool found in most independents. This is an Exotic car specialty diagnostic computer.

Lift the cams, still connected. Slide old tensioners out and new ones in. Nothing will be adjusted and the tensioners will be right in the perfect spots. Takes 10 mins. Spend the last few hours cleaning up and putting the engine back together.
@LynxStarAuto9 жыл бұрын
This is the truth. Done it a handful of times. No need to invest in tools etc. now if the chain broke, or skipped a tooth... Different story
@lancepowers62749 жыл бұрын
If the chain jumps ? is all you do is line the cams back flat with the tool and make sure it's TDC . Right?.
@RGIIIBOXING Жыл бұрын
The cams have flat spots on the top of the cam...when they both look the same it's in time...take 2 sip ties and and attach two spots on the sprocket....Then in small steps loosen the caps....and keep them in order" lift the cam up and put the new tensioner on...put back in place ...on move the cam SPORKET? Mark the other chains in clock position them move off the gear at the bottom to put new chain on and guides and new tensioner " same for the other side...VVT...I DIDN'T MESS WITH IT AT ALL ...THE ONE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE IS THE HARDEST TO GET OFF...ITS THE WAY I DID MINE....IT TOOK A FEW STARTS FOR IT SMOOTH BACK OUT...2 YRS LATER...I DID A 4.8 LS SWAP..WITH A TRUCK NORRIS CAM...NO MORE TIMING STUFF OR TENSIONERS MESS 4 ME... JAGUAR XJ8...WITH ANOTHER V8 RUNS GOOD 🤭
