Yes about right. The only thing I do not experience is the 3-day work week. I work 12 hours per day, 6 days a week. No holiday in years. And I am not unique

These americans have only experienced the nice side of africa because of the power of the dollar currency. Africa has the highest rate of unemployment, hunger, and corruption in the world. Ya'll are living in a bubble, educate yourself please.

3 day work is not correct, Most people work 7 days a week to make ends meet. You clearly don't mix with the poor working class who is the majority of people in South Africa.

I'm a little shocked at your video - you are experiencing a very privileged and limited view of this country....spas???? 3 days a week??? This is not reality for most - this is what so many south africans complain about....people from other countries coming here and jumping into a very privileged bubble without seeing the actual reality.
@AshleyinAfrika8 сағат бұрын
Of course it does, I’m not like most. I can tell my privilege makes you uncomfortable. Based on your last name, you, your cousins, and your ancestors may also be what many of the South African people complain about as well. Carry on Maria.

Three day workweek. No not so. Sunday is a national drink day and then on Monday they have a hangover and are working slower or do not pitch up for work. We work a five day work week, some six days and others 7 days. Anything else portrayed is not laid back but lazy. Those who can afford 3 days work week are either lucky,fortunate, unfortunate and or rich.

Very valid points and a huge mistake I think many people make when moving to another country. They then blame the country and say they were not “welcome” when all along they came with this westernized mindset and refused to adjust

Fantastic to hear you are having such a great time here. Small correction - South Africa has been independent (sort of) since 1934. We became a republic in 1961. It is South Africa's Democracy, that is 30 years old. Also great to hear that you are providing a job, maybe jobs, to some fellow South Africans in your support system. Being well off in South Africa, means that the cheap labour here, is an absolute gift if you want to improve your standard of living. Sadly that it also the reason for most of the inequality, but that is a subject for another day. Keep it coming, I love hearing about your experiences in our great country.
@RashidLanie83 сағат бұрын
And, just to clarify further. Though South Africa became a Republic in 1961, it was so in name only. A republic by its definition and practice is one in which ALL rights are enshrined in a BILL OF RIGHTS for the minority and the majority. The SA of 1961 only protected the minority rights of one section of our population. A republic also prevents the majority from simply dominating or abusing the rights of minorities or ignoring their rights to full expression and enjoyment in pursuit of their happiness. That said, the South Africa we have today represents a much more truer form of what a republic should be, a Representative Democracy with an exemplary BILL OF RIGHTS.

You are living as a rich person in a poor country. You have a skewed viewpoint. Ask your maid how her spa days are. Or rather how many people she is feeding with the few Rands you are paying her.

Also don't claim your ancestors are from Africa if you are actually from Jamaica 😮😮 we welcome all but keep your arrogance and entitlement at home. Not America nor Europe is better than Africa. Actually it is a mess and Africa seems more normal every day. ❤❤❤ South Africa is the most diverse country not only in culture but also in geography. And we are proud of it ❤❤

There were 12 mass shootings in America last week, a convicted felon running for president, where gun violence is the number one killer of children and heart disease is the second. Please your analysis of danger and corruption needs revisiting.

@AshleyinAfrika 85 People are murdered in South Africa everyday. We have a higher murder rate than the Iraq + Afghanistan war (more than all the US soldiers that died). The SA president has court cases pending against him. The same for Zuma, the previous president. I have been a victim myself, twice. Attempted hijacking, and an armed robbery. Some of my family members are victims of crime. Some of my friends are victims of crime. Some of my colleagues are victims of crime.

My sister, this is a very interesting video but I'd say that in South Africa we value FAMILY and children, not just motherhood. My view is South Africa is starting to adopt the western lifestyle where women do not value family and children (particularly in the black middle class). I like the fact that your videos are always positive but I think you should give a balanced view for people who're actually considering visiting. 🙂

I don’t think it’s smart for any black Americans to move to any part of Africa with the exception of South Africa by themselves until there’s a community of black American people thriving in Africa already keep your ass in America. It’s safer two minute black Americans have been killed for us to still be living in this make-believe world when it comes to Africa

One thing people should understand, is that in Africa we build over time. No one is going to judge you for coming and not "blowing up". Europeans, and other people seem to come to Africa and settle in very quickly. So come, settle in first and take your time to find what you want to do. There's no hurry. Just come and decompress first.

South African here. Idk about different industries. In retail there is no 3 day work days. We work public holidays and even Sundays. It absolutely depends on your industry, location (I'm from JHB Gauteng), as well as your position. If you are a welder, you can't work from home. Nurses can't work from home. Brick layers, cant work from home.

It was our family's privilege to move to the RSA from the states for 10 years with our family. We are "white" Americans but that didn't matter... We were so accepted by all colors of the people of South Africa. We had the wonderful privilege of living and owning a home in Gauteng. We ministered to village people in the suburbs of Joburg. Our purpose for moving to South Africa for was to share the Love of Jesus with the African people. Life is short for all of us but especially for the South Africans. We took the truth of God's Word and shared it with hundreds of children. We got to proclaim the hope that only JESUS offers. Traditions are in every culture and we loved getting to learn of the various traditions and the various cultures of South Africa. But God's Word overides some traditions and teaches that there is only one mediator between God and man and that is the man Christ Jesus. God's Word tells us, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man cometh to the Father but by me. We are thankful to have seen many receive God's beautiful free gift of salvation. For God SO loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son. That whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
