I often think the implied threat is more scary than the overt. What you can’t see or understand scares me more.

The other characters turn into entranced children when Byron Orlok is narrating the fable, much like many of us watching this scene. He is happily wrong about there being no place anymore for old-school horror.

I'm confused wouldn't this just create a mistrial and wouldn't that be good for the judge?
@EricaNewGirlАй бұрын
It will yes. But public perception will forever be tarnished for the judge making the next trial more difficult. Arthur will also likely be disbarred. It’s the best option bc the judge had dirt on Arthur that would get him disbarred anyway to force him to represent him. The reason the judge wants Arthur to defend him is bc they have a long history of hating each other. So in the judge’s mind “if the lawyer who hates him proves he is innocent, he must really be innocent” in the public’s perception. Also the whole movie is about Arthur’s innocent clients getting screwed by the system. So he’s given up caring now.

Without a doubt, this is one of the greatest scenes in the history of cinema, not to mention for Al Pacino!

If you've seen the whole film you know she appears again in the reeds in the lake - later on. Appears right at a crack of thunder - that scene always scared me cause I knew the governess would look up and see her again, just standing there, looking. The fact she apparently died by suicide in the lake makes it even creepier. But just...standing there looking. Awesome.
