I don't like to be that guy, but in Americanized pronunciation, Moog rhymes with rogue.
@jginnever29 күн бұрын
I mentioned the mispronunciation in the description. I actually pronounced it two different ways in the video.
@christopheroliver14829 күн бұрын
@@jginnever I guess it just hit me badly. I understand subtractive basics well enough that the whole video might be surperfluous, but I when I heard that pronunciation, my knee jerked. I'm sorry if it seems an overreaction. FWIW, my first experience listening to Moog equipment live (my father had a copy of Switched on Bach already) was when Chris Swanson gave a recital at my local high school auditorium with a three stack modular system. I wish I had a tape of that now as I was too young to give it the appreciation it deserved.

@@christopheroliver148 I'm a stickler for pronouncing Moog the proper way too. But, as I said in the description, no one around here really knew how to pronounce it when Bob Moog came into the spotlight. So I mispronounced it for a good decade or more before I heard the proper pronunciation. My old, improper pronunciation just comes out sometimes. I bought the Switched on Bach album as soon as it came out. I don't know which I discovered first, that album or the movie "A Clockwork Orange". They were both done by Wendy Carlos. So I guess I've been coveting a Moog for more than 50 years now.

Just out of curiosity, how many tickets did you buy? I’ve entered the last few for Minimoogs and one MemoryMoog, but I’ve never won. I think the most I’ve bought has been 4 tickets at once.
@jginnever29 күн бұрын
There was a deal to buy 5 tickets for $100. That's what I bought.
@intheblink29 күн бұрын
Aww man, I was really hoping to win this one. I’d love to own a Minimoog, but after years of buying way too much music gear, I just can’t justify the spend (especially when I’m out of space) Hope it brings you lots of joy!
@jginnever29 күн бұрын
I'm in the same boat. Got lots of equipment and nowhere to put it. But there's always room for a Minimoog.

Thanks for the informative tour. My Uncle Bob Edwards worked at PPG

This problem was fixed that by installing a time delay relay. The root cause seems to be a Google Nest thermostat. The thermostat charges it's internal battery by drawing power from the thermostat wire. This is the same wire that tells the A/C unit to cool. If the charging and cooling happen simultaneously, it causes the A/C unit to make the compressor run backward. At least this is my translation of what was told to me.

I really miss visiting Crystal City, but since my wifes relatives have all gone to their rest, we have no one there any more. Many Italians came from New York to work at PPG glass factory. My wife's aunt Maria and uncle Tony used to have the Ponza Pizzeria . Nice place.

My absolute pleasure Brad. You guys were the first band that really impressed me at Salmonfest. I played music all around Alaska in the early 80s. I get back as often as I can. I am definitely a fan of your group now. You play some great stuff. This was a new camera and I couldn't stop bouncing around anyway. So hopefully it's something useful.

And thanks for the info DEEREMEYER1. I should have suspected that there is a lot of bureaucracy in railroads.
@jginnever10 жыл бұрын
The local railroad has been really good about parking the trains further away from the houses. It's still loud but it doesn't rattle the windows 24/7 like it used to. I think we've reached a good compromise ... so far.
