Early Stones were great!! Too bad the world lost Brian. What a huge talent. He could play just about any instrument you handed him. I love Bill Wyman’s chill demeanor. I remember watching this when i was young. As other people have mentioned, Ed Sullivan had great young talent on his show every week. Real musicians playing real instruments. No huge amp stacks. A simple drum kit. Good memories….

Just saw the Rolling Stones in Cleveland, Ohio, USA on June 15th, 2024. Amazing to see this footage from almost exactly 60 years ago. No chance of a riot today, but every one of the 50,000 at Cleveland Browns Stadium would have paid another $500 to hear them play another 2 hours more! Crazy to think this concert is before Satisfaction was released, and they were already gaining a wild following. They were obviously the yang to the Beatles yin at the time! How young they are. But, incredibly, at 80 Mick actually moves more today than he was here at about 21 lol

Not the greatest performance really. They were so unpolished at this point compared to say the Beatles. Playing blues covers on Ed Sullivan. Surprising they became as popular as they did considering their somewhat mediocre beginning

Charlie Watts never had a mobile phone or a driving licence. He hated touring and the PR that went with it . His biggest regret was never learning to read music. The reason being it would make playing jazz easier. Jazz was his passion. Ginger Baker once said "Charlie is a lovely drummer he's so much better than the shit the Stones play". I think at the end he was bored with the Stones. He was asked a few years before he died are the Stones going on tour? His answer was " I don't know,if they go I'll go with them but I really don't care if they never went on tour again.😂

I recall Charlie Watts saying he couldn't understand why Americans wanted to listen to the Stones doing Little Red Rooster when they had Howlin' Wolf in the States he said at the time maybe it's a race thing with white boys from England. He was so cool Charlie.

Just saw them in concert and if I had to describe it in one word i think it would absolutely be, Inspiring. Mick Jagger had the energy of a 15 year old boy with ADD. They played for close to three hours and he was all over the stage and up and down the cat walk non stop. He would skip, run, hop around as he effortlessly sang their most well known hits. With only three of them left, they still delivered every bit of what you would expect from one of their concerts. Definitely one of my favorite bands and I am so glad I finally got to hear them play live… and I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure it just looked like Mick Jagger just moon walked at the end of the first song on The Ed Sullivan Show 🧐

Who is singing backup on the end of Time is in my Side. Pretty good falsetto. Bill Wyman and Keith only 2 with microphones . Probably Bill Wyman because Charley looks at him and Kerith moves away from the mic right at the end and you can stll hear singing.

Saw them in concert in December of that year. The stage lost some of its power (circular turning stage) so Mick, on harp, and Charlie did a duet until power was restored. Mick said that they almost lost Brian the week before due to electrocution on stage. No wonder they were being extra careful that night.
