I love it, I got recently a 2300 zx from 97 for measly 300 euros, I'm in love. You can get such amazing bikes these days for cheap if you're willing to buy vintage. I'm not a fan of these modern futuristic looking bikes, this one I like because it combines the best of both worlds, classic elegant "steel look" but with lighter materials. I hope you post an update with assembled bike, so I can see what other gear you put on it, and I hope you enjoy it.

What’s the max width tire you can put on those Rolf Vector Pros?
@pgallas29 күн бұрын
Not so much about the wheel as it is about the frame. Usually 28mm is where it stops, 26mn safer bet, but 20-24mm average

Thanks for the video. Just bought a set with little use for $100. Like new. Going on a budget bike, Trek Fuse 7.1. Didn’t want spend $600 for a built set. Commuter bike. 230 lbs. 32 spokes. Good enough for me!

Typically manufactures size their frames by measuring the effective reach along the top tube from the center of the seat post to the center of the steerer tube. Effective reach is that distance level to the ground. This frame, the actual top tube is most likely the same as the effective reach.

What is the size of rear shock? Because I have one the same frame
@ItsMyBikeThing2 ай бұрын
all the info is on: mybikething.com/home/product/giant-xtc-ac2-downhill-mtb-frame-19-large-26-disc-manitou-s-type/ I believe you're asking about the eye to eye measurement? That's 165 mm
@markdanielgamboa40582 ай бұрын
Ok do you have idea what size if coil rear suspension I put?
@pgallas2 ай бұрын
As long as the shock fits, it will work. The only thing that changes is the ride feel. You can get a stiffer shock (coil) for a more aggressive feel or a more comfortable coil with less spring, like the one in this ad.

Not sure about those forks. I've never seen a Mercian with "Suit" stamped blades, but I have seen it on frames built in Italy by Giovanni Pelizzoli "Ciocc". 🤔

My 89 KOM has extended Suit fork tangs that were brazed on prior to chroming.

@@jamesnarlesky4622 The reason I asked, whilst having emigrated from the UK some years ago, I previously lived in Nottinghamshire, not too far from Mercian. I was also a professional frame finisher for many years, and also a a keen club cyclist. As a result I knew "Mr. Mercian" Jeff Bowler, very well indeed. I can't remember how many frames I've worked on over the years, too many to recall, including quite a number made by Mercian. It is true, Mercian would on occasion respond to requests for some form of customisation, indeed I had such work carried out myself a couple of times; however, I can't ever recall seeing anything from them with, what I would describe as hallmark "Pelizzoli" features. 🤔

Could not see how the gear cable wires were routed under the bottom bracket ? In 1960s Mercian built a time trial frame with the seat stays entering the seat lug directly at the rear. No wrap round as is usual and seen here. The first nod to airo consideration in frame building. My team mate beat me by 30 secs riding such a frame in Soar Valley R C Thursday evening 25 mile TT, included Ray Booty in 1962, from Loughborough to Derby and back.

This frame used a more traditional plastic cable guide. Would have been cool brazed or through the tube

You can fit a Shimano 105 11-34 cassette on there, it'll work. I have set of Easton ea90 sl with a 10 speed hub, Shimano made that specific cassette fit.

The Colorado model was a spec model for The Spoke bicycle shop in Boulder, Co. They sold Mercian's for years till they closed. I bought a Mercian Vincentorie from the owner's son inlaw in 2016

Mercian is still in business. I have had 10 frames. My oldest is a 1973 Super Vigorrelli track bike that I had built. Same color, Ruby Red with white pannels on the head and seat tube. Lugs lined. Ride it now either on the road or at the Dick Lane Velodrome, Atlanta (East Point).

Yes still going.... Nice frames. Respect for sticking with lugged skinny tubes, straight steerers and rim brakes. My only gripe would be the max 28mm tyre width. More room for wider tyres please Mercian.
