If you do sign up for the whole adobe suite you’ll get access to a ‘free’ portfolio site through your subscription too. It’s sort of like a lite version of square space. Not as detailed, but very functional!

Thank you! It was helpful, but... I found out that for me right now the biggest problem is to choose a new computer or a laptop, since my old one cannot handle Adobe programs. So, essentially - it you do not have a good computer, you cannot use programs. What would you suggest? Or maybe you talked about it somewhere? I just found you, so I will look around.

I started with a $200 dell laptop that worked find. Now I’m on a Mac. There’s also programs like fresco on iPads you can make patterns on

Thank you very much for the tutorial! This is one of the most useful on videos about patterns in Ai on KZfaq. However I still have a question - is it possible to make it so that objects in a ready-made pattern can be grouped by color or moved? I'll be very grateful for your answer

You can ‘save for web’ and it will save the art board with the pattern so you can make the repeat over and over

I don't have a ipad for procreate. And no scription for adoble. Is wacom perfect? Or a Samsung tablet?
@kelseycasteel4 ай бұрын
Wacom is great! Though you may need an Adobe subscription to be able to draw things without procreate. A lot of artist use Frisco to draw or they do it inside of illustrator

So a wacom would be best to get rather than a Samung tablet etc? Even though, i'd scan some of my art to make patterns to. But would love to expermint with drawing with a digital pen to. (reminds me of graphic design)@@kelseycasteel

If you don't mind me asking, what brushes are you using? Are there any specific Procreate brushes you love that you have purchased, or do you use the in-app brushes primarily?

I have been following your tutorial but somehow the thin white line between squares still shows up and no matter how i tweak the background square, it wont disappear. Do you have any tips for this?
@kelseycasteel4 ай бұрын
It could be a few things. First thing I do is delete the background box that has no full or stroke. Then I make sure my background is over my art board on all sides. I’ll then copy and paste the background again making sure it’s behind the background and get rid of the fill and stroke. After trying that if it doesn’t work delete your elements that are overhang on one side and make them repeat again. Sometimes an element can get moved slightly without us noticing. Sorry this is long but hopefully it helps

Hello Kelsey! Thanks for the tutorial it is really helpful and has helped me making lot of patterns this way. However, I'm coming back here because for some reason i followed every steps but my pattern still left with gap around it. It seems the second rectangle won't crop my design. Do you think you can see where i might get it wrong?

Are you copying the background shape and sending it back with no fill or stroke?

I was getting worried you weren’t going to mention Affinity Designer (and Affinity Photo)! These are every bit as good as Adobe products if not better, but at the price of one month of the Adobe products, and you own it outright, unlike Adobe!!! You can change the persona in Affinity Designer, so you can change from vectors to pixels! You can’t do that in Adobe! I love, love, love Procreate too, and I use both Procreate and Designer. I’m also totally in love with Skillshare and would never not Subscribe to it. It’s brilliant! Love your video. Thankyou.
