"Too many books and comics," perish the thought LOL! Great video as always! The technical clarification of what constitutes a "graphic novel" at 2:45 was especially interesting along with the visual explanation, I thought.

@reedmorebooks the video made me curious about maybe reading more comics and graphic novels, I think they would be perfect for summer as it's when I hit my reading slump, I'd still be reading but I'd have fantastic art to look at. I have some graphic novels and trades on my shelf (my collection is tiny though) so I might start with those. I thought the joke was great, it actually sounded like something I'd say 🤣

Me: Wow, Jonathan Davis does book narration now. 3 seconds later Me: Oh... I bought The Book Eaters a couple of months ago whole browsing the second hand shops, it sounds very intriguing as magical realism is a genre I haven't read a huge amount of. The vampire book and Leviathan sound pretty good, I think I'd enjoy those. I'm in my Summer reading slump, I've read maybe 200 pages in the last 2 weeks, I'm too busy enjoying the wonderful, rainy English summer 🤣 Great video Justin, happy to see you back 🙂

I should recommend Welcome to Night Vale, I think you may like it. It's a good mix of magical realism, sci-fi, comedy and horror. It's based on a podcast, but you don't have to know the podcast to read it. (That said, I 100% recommend the podcast, and it's free of course. I even went to a live show, loved it!) I love rain. I'll glad trade you for our lack of and 100 Fahrenheit heat.

What Dreams May Come did it tho (the film), and Christopher Robin (cause my mom loved Winnie the Pooh, and wanted to see it but died just before it released). We Only Find Them When They're Dead (6:46) sounds interesting, I always like a good space opera. It reminds me a little of Knowhere as depicted in the MCU where they are harvesting the remains of a celestial's noggin, but it takes that similar idea and runs with it in what sounds to be a very intriguing direction. Very cool video!
@reedmorebooksАй бұрын
Certainly a similarity, but definitely goes much deeper than that. It's one you'd probably like, honestly.
@NoDollarBillАй бұрын
I really liked the superimposed artwork over the written text at the 4:46 mark as well as the almost hypno disc style artwork that appeared at 6:32 (the music timing there also had an almost Earthbound SNES-style sound that happens when the screen distorts in that game, which felt very appropriate for that page). And the Michael Myers depictions were very well-illustrated, always nice to see horror imagery presented well. Great video! ❤

I love my disaster dark lord Davi. The modern day quipp didnt bother me, because it says something about the timeperiod she was snatched away, and i enjoyed the subtle hints of how the fading memory of her earthlife was corrupting them. She keeps so clinging to anything of her earthlife, even if she is now basically immortal.
@reedmorebooksАй бұрын
I disagree. She showed practically no regard for her former life, beyond the extremely rare comment, and wanting the loop to end. And I certainly don't see them "corrupting" the world of the book in any way, her way of thinking yes, again, not yet, but down the road. It's fair enough to suppose and extrapolate, but I didn't see any real page real estate covering any longing for her old life, in fact we found out literally nothing about it, though I assume we will in future books. I really feel the entire "isekai" element could've been lifted out of the book entirely and nothing substantial would've changed, beyond the 11th hr, one sentence reveal. It's not so much the jokes themselves, as the frequency that I found grating (though some were real groaners, ofc humor is subjective). I'm glad you enjoyed the book, I did as well, I just found this element held it back from me loving it vs liking it.
