This Lady is such a mixed bag of musicality. U can hear Donny Hathaway Nancy Wilson Sarah Vaughn Ella Fitzgerald all played a part in her upbringing. It's rooted in the vintage but agile and youthful like her pops. She singing circles around everybody smh

Something that has been missing out of the Brandy “Vocal Bible” conversation is singer/songwriter Rahsaan Patterson’s influence on Brandy’s vocal styling. Rahsaan wrote and produced on Brandy’s first album and im telling you now alot of those riffs and runs have Rahsaan ALL OVER IT. I’m almost positive that it’s how Rahsaan sung the songs on the demo/reference track, and Brandy sung it just like he did. She used the style, took it, ran with it, remixed it a bit on later albums and here we are. But lets put Rahsaan Patterson’s name in the conversation and give the brother some credit.

If you are old enuf to remember the Documentary about the beginning of Gospel Music, "Say Amen Somebody," you might remember the great pioneer in Gospel Willie Mae Ford Smith. She had a phenomenal voice and also mentored many Gospel Singers of that day including Delois Barrett and the Barrett Sisters. Until now I have not heard anyone sing like Ms Willie Mae....until now. Callie Day changed all that. "Mother Smith's" legacy is alive and well with Callie Day! Thank you Callie Day for bringing it....sharing your awesome talent!

I love the Clark Sisters! They are truly Anointed and gifted! Twinkle is credited for her powerful vocals/wide range, song writing and being the Backbone & soul of The Clark Sisters. Karen has gotten her credit and Dorinda has gotten hers. Jacky has finally started getting credit for her contribution with her deep soft vocals and she balances out the harmony in the group. Denise who left the group early on in the mid 1980s, has a piecing soprano. She made the blend good on the high soprano notes. Folks sleep on and overlook Jacky & Denise but each one of them bring what they have t the table to make up the groups sound and style.
