It was the Ancient Greeks with the likes of Plato (Theory of Forms), Aristotle (The Organon, Metaphysics) and especially Euclid (The Elements) who were working at the core of Mathematics. Without Euclid there'd be no Archimedes (The G.O.A.T.), no Al-Khwarizmi's Algebra, no Descartes' Geometry, no Newton's Analysis. If you studied their works you would realize the same.
