Speaking of **cough** _shrubbery inspections_ , a station I was in yesterday yielded fruit - This one had a couple of rows of benches with shrubbery on the mezzanine level - on the right hand side if you're going there from your ship. As always, lovin' your work, Bob 🍻 - I know Hello Games uplifted the visuals not that long ago, but this first back-port from the Light No Fire engine is something else! Especially on the more hospitable planets, the landscapes are just gorgeous now. On top of that, I picked up a HDR monitor at a great price in Prime Day sales and switching that setting on in NMS is something else again. 🤯

Been really enjoying your series. As a new player it has really helped me as I have followed along (loosely - my starter system was not as good). I'd really like to see the freighter next if that makes sense progression-wise at this point.

Hi Bob. OK, so i just by chance logged out next to a pile of moldy balls and I had cleared them before saving and exiting. Then when I returned the Moldy Balls where back, Ah ha I said to myself, So I cleared them again and didn't move my ship, i JUST JUMPED IN AND OUT, THEN EXITED TO MENU SCREEN, LOGGED BACK IN AND....booM THERE THEY WHERE ALL THE MOLDY bALLS YOU COULD WANT. so i JUST STARTED RINSING AND REPEATING AND ENDED UP WITH LIKE 60000 OF THOSE PUSSY WILLOW things. It took me a bout 20 minutes to collect that much. And ya, it takes awhile to process that many into nanites. But hey....Free Balls.

Definitely love to see a freighter build. Just back after 1 year, and freighter construction is completely different, and very confusing for me. Thanks for the series! Love the content, glad to see you back! Have a Bob kinda day!

@35:45, that Di-hydrogen jelly trick is still in the game. You can generate more di-hydrogen my making and melting jelly in the refiners.

There was a guy a few years ago that built this type of base a lot. He would scout out locations that had several moldy ball site relatively close. He'd build a collection area for each one and then connect them in series with short range teleporters, The last one would end in the processing area with many medium refiners. As you make a circuit collecting and refining the balls, they respawn and you can just keep doing it until your brain melts. It was a lot of work to set up. Then someone would always come in, build to close and ruin it and he'd find a new place and start over, just to have someone do it again. He eventually gave up. His bases were legendary and open to anyone to use freely.

@SurvivalBob you can still do the Di-hydrogen /Jelly cycling. 30 => 1 jelly in a refiner (vs 40 => 1 jelly just crafting it). But then you refine 1 Jelly => 40 Di-hydrogen. So it's slower but you can infinitely get more Di-hydrogen that way if you prefer never to mine it again.

Altho, one thing i tend to do when making bases/farming place i make 2 landing platforms, one for myself and 1 for random npc's.. Sometimes i get alot of visits, wich is nice. Farm wise, i tend to use it alot in the beginning to gather up a decent amount of nanites. after that i just tend to it everynow and then. usually after a exploration, mission or w/e

I wonder if building a base near a "detect resonance" computer and collecting hyaline brains from sentinel ships is a faster way top farm nanites. Each hyaline brain yields 230 nanites. It doesn't take long to warp out/in, detect resonance, fly to ship, and collect hyaline brains. They drop from sentinel ships as well.
@landondaniell540414 сағат бұрын
They process much faster in the refiner as well. You can collect atlantideum and pugneum during each run to add to the nanites total.
@landondaniell540414 сағат бұрын
Another way to earn nanites is to purchase suspicious packets from pirate stations and sell the modules. You can earn 3000 to 5000 nanites at each station.

Why shrink the terrain manipulator ball when mining minerals?
@andrewblackwood449814 сағат бұрын
You get more minerals
@frugal1019114 сағат бұрын
You get a fixed amount of resource per "blast", bigger blasts eat away more terrain, but do not give any extra resources. Use the really small ball to get the max resources.
@steveheffner15 сағат бұрын
Because of terrain regrowth, I have my bases above the ground Floating. Since this game doesn't require supports it makes this very easy. Just make 2 or so ramps from the terrain, and then start building. Don't care that everything looks like magic making it float. We are in a universe where we all have ships so it is just tech you didn't know existed yet is all.
@steveheffner15 сағат бұрын
Oh and you should entertain building an oxygen base. A) to show people how to do that, B) for resource multiplication so that you aren't so strapped for resources. Oxygen I personally find to be the #1 since whatever update. Gold/silver/platinum are also nice too for resource multiplication or just units.
@dungeoncat50215 сағат бұрын
Something that I found I like with farming the moldy balls is that if you get a teleporter on your freighter and put it in above the planet you can just jump between the freighter and base to have pretty quick loading times and you can set up a bunch of large refiners on the freighter to process the mold. It does take a bit of salvaged frigate modules to get the teleporter and refiners though which can be annoying
@baron132416 сағат бұрын
just as I start to look for an idea for a nanite farm you drop this, perfect timing! it's next on my list after I get a Sentinel Ship for things to do. It would be cool to see a Pirate system next time! appreciate the video, Bob!
@peterscore182316 сағат бұрын
I used to do bases, 10+ balls at each and just teleport between them. Now I just do pirate stations if I ant nanites. Pirate stations are a lot faster if you have 5 to 10 in your teleport list.

Agree. I did that last in the series. Will probably do it again when I get to outlaw systems.
