Maybe it’s just me but the thing that made the original Elmore James version so driving and compelling was the crazy rumba beat. I enjoyed this version but it’s not blues like the original.

Hey Matt, I don’t know if you read this, but I keep coming back to this song in particular and your studio recording of it - it is just perfect! Great energy, yet total control. It encompasses so much of what you teach in the TrueFire courses - that I too keep coming back, despite all the great competitors and friends on offer for an „all access student“. Just felt like letting you know that I think your playing is most inspired and your teaching priceless. And I hope can keep at it in these difficult times. Hope to see you soon at a gig in Germany!

Matt Schofield at the North Sea Jazz festival "Laying it Down" is just great!! Space,clarity,thoughtful placement of phrases.Great feel and the great Jon Cleary on piano .Just fantastic playing.!!A+++

Great performance. You can't reinvent the wheel, but playing blues like this is so difficult, takes a lot of practice to build up these skills, great player.

Yes his sound is soulful I like the way he mix the scales and chords into jazzy blues mix certainly he’s what I listen too the best he also has lessons on the tube
